League description:
An incredible 22 new teams joined in early 2023, breathing new life into this league.
WE WILL HAVE A RARE VACANCY FOR A NEW TEAM IN SEASON 53 - SOCIABLE MANAGERS ARE WELCOME TO APPLY AND A BOOST WILL BE AVAILABLE.
Once that vacancy is filled, we will operate a waiting list for joining the league - if you're a sociable manager who enjoys a bit of chit-chat in the Scribble and posting fairly regular press releases, do drop the admin a message if you're interested in being on the waiting list.
The punkest league in town - the league had its roots in the Manchester punk scene, but has since attracted managers from further afield. Today, it is very much a league for everyone.
With a surge of new managers joining recently and entering brand new teams, this league seems to be tapping into a demand for two things:
1) A lot of managers haven't started from scratch with a team in years and want to rediscover that challenge.
2) A lot of managers are looking for a league with good engagement in the Scribble chat - we now have this as many of the new managers have plenty to say and really get involved.
Nice short seasons, so you'll get regular change reports. New admin (but experienced X11 player) in charge and really enjoying the experience of running a league so far. I'll be a very involved and engaged admin, which always makes a difference in private leagues.
Check the Job Centre for available positions. Happy to boost teams in the lowest tier if they've not been boosted before, and will even let you sign a few players first if you're quick - which presents a real opportunity for the canny manager.
This is not a league where we are strict about press releases, so if you feel strongly about that then this may not be the league for you. Managers here take their teams seriously, but some don't have time to craft bespoke press releases. Plenty of them do, mind you...
THE CALVIN SEWELL AWARD
Calvin Sewell was the original manager of the Honey Badgers team here in Serie Punk. Very sadly, he passed away far too young in March 2022. Away from the game, he was the formidable frontman of the Cardiff hardcore punk band, Grand Collapse. Introduced in Season 45, the Calvin Sewell Award recognises a manager who tore up a few trees, went beyond the norm, and generally played a blinder over the course of the season.
