| Finale Lives up to Expectations |
Manchester Pussycats 1 Super Ayr 1
As we entered the 85th minute of the league games, in the final round 14 matches, Super Ayr trailed 1-0 to the Pussycats. Napredak were holding on to a 1-1 draw with Sootys Footy. Super Ayr were dead and buried, about to be relegated to Division 3 again, and Napredak were staying up.
Ayr who had lost all six previous away matches in the league this season were staring a clean sweep of seven away losses, something never before done in the history of the Xpertelven. Well I made that last bit up. But then there was high drama. An equalising goal for Ayr, and a winning goal for Sootys Footy, to swing the season Ayr's way. There were other teams also involved in the drama, but in the end the results meant that Ayr and Napredak who had both won the same games and points, and were both minus one goal difference, have been separated by goals scored.
Thanks for a great season. Ayr have been very lucky. Great form at home and terrible away from home, and staying up by the skin of our teeth !
