Division 3f, Hattrick League

Lowly Spliffs rule from 12 yards

And set up potential showdown with X11 best in Quarter Finals of Hattrick League Cup

It was the most memorable moment in the club’s history as a second League 1 team fell to the penalty heroes of Hadjuk Spliff.

As a quality smoke goes, this was a Flor de las Antillas Toro moment and a couple of the defenders were pictured sucking on the classy Nicaraguan cigar in the changing rooms after the match.

Rightly so, the latest win was started and finished by the defence who held firm against a superior team who would have savaged the league 4 outfit were it not for the ugly line of grizzled journeymen bricking up the goal.

Spliff’s gaffer Monsieur EuroSpurs finally realised the possible truth that the majority of the squad possess an ice cool hidden talent.

‘When you have a goalie and 17 year old street urchin score in shootouts and ultimately seal the win it clearly underlines the temperament of this squad. We just want to enjoy this and provide the team with some much needed experience and development.’

The old cliché of not looking beyond the next game is ever apparent as survival in Division 4h is far from guaranteed though. Eurospurs continued:

‘With the excellent Cup run I thought we’d have a great deal more form than we currently have but we have been battered with injuries to key players and are playing in a the most competitive league that I can remember. Domestic duties must take some priority here and I can only look as far as securing safety in the division for another season.’
