Samlegend admits rushing team

NK Svoboda Samlegend has been in philosophical mood after his side threw away a two goal lead with just over half an hour left of their last league game to drop from top to third in the league and ultimately miss out on promotion. "At the end of the day, this squad is not one that should be expecting to win a Division 6 title," he reflected. "I always said that development was our main aim but I got carried away with results going our way and sacrificed a couple of the youngsters for a selfish dream of promotion. This season I have promised every single young player that they will be guaranteed five games, whether they be league or cup. If we're lucky enough to grind out  the results to be in the mix come the end of the season that will be great but securing the long-term future of the team is more important to me." The young manager also confirmed that veteran goalkeeper Kieran Manetteer will be leaving the club in the transfer window. "For the 300,000 econ we spent on him Kieran has been outstanding for us. He could have plied his trade at a significantly higher level but he's done us a turn and he's one of the best professionals I've ever had the pleasure of working with," gushed Samlegend. "But the time has come to shift focus to the youngsters - we've had a new keeper come through from the academy and I'm very excited to move forward with the two stoppers we've got currently. We will use our last friendly match as a sort of testimonial to Kieran to say thanks for everything he's done for us over the past two seasons."
