Dalydale considers future |
Real Basel manager, Dalydale, has publicly stated he is considering his future at Real. Financial pressure seems to be proving too much for the ambitious manager after, for the second time in two weeks, the clubs youth academy had to be closed down due to lack of funds.
“It’s a sad situation. When I came here at the half way mark of last season, we were bottom of the league with only one point. The players responded to the changes I bought in and went on an outstanding run, winning the remaining seven fixtures and gaining a very unlikely promotion. We have started in the same vein this season, and are still in the cup. But there is no money, I can’t continue to work on a shoe string; we need investment, and we need it now!”
It is unlikely that any money will be forthcoming, and with only one saleable asset in his squad in youngster Jousha Ready, Dalydale may have to weaken his hand just to see the season through.
“The youth system is a joke! We invest about a 3rd of our revenue into it and have only seen three players come through. One of them is Jousha, who has played every game since his promotion. The other two have left the game as they could not cut it in a division 8 side, and no one else would take them on. There needs to be a better distribution of funds down the leagues if we are to compete, we can’t continue to play two games a week and be competitive on the pittance we receive.”
