Return of the Nuck |
Early in 2012, the manager that was Robbow1990 left XpertEleven after nearly 5 glorious (and not so glorious) years in management. Many people wondered, given that he was only 22, why did he retire from football management this early?
Now, just before his 24th birthday, he returns under a new moniker. Wrexhamcanuck!
He said in front of a packed press conference
"Do you want to know the reasons why I left two years ago? Tough luck, my reasons are my own. Seriously though, I just got jaded with football management and was struggling to juggle this and other things outside the world of football management. Now though, I am back."
Wrexhamcanuck recently took charge of the eponymous Wrexham Canucks, a new team who are looking forward to starting life in Super League soon. Wrexhamcanuck admits that this will be a tough task.
"Make no mistake about it, I know that this will be an enormous task to get this team up the divisions. It will not be easy. I am not a perfect man. In my days as robbow1990, I got a 10 rated 18 year old who could play all round and sold him. With the money, I bought two players who were quite frankly duds. I didn't do my homework on them and that was my biggest regret in management. Back then though, I was a naive 18 year old. I learned from that mistake and I will not make that in this career."
"The team I have in front of me, I will evaluate them over the coming days and weeks. See who is suited to the task of getting us out of the basement division within time and who isn't up to the task. I am a fair man but also am willing to make sacrifices if it means the long term success of this team."
The first run out for the Wrexham Canucks was a home friendly against Reserve Team I, which the Canucks won 2-0 with late goals from substitute striker Joey Parker and midfielder Ian Arthur.
"It was a good run out by the lads, we dominated with the chances and we fully deserved the win. Changes will be made, I know that much. But the players certainly put themselves in good stead with the performance today. We will see how things will unfold but I am looking forward to getting stuck in with my new team".
