Why would you sign a 31y old goalkeeper for 9 million econs, you might ask? Well, the nickname "The Wall" might be one answer, another one could be the fact Luis Jil (s.16) is one of the best goalkeepers around. He´s right up there among the best money can buy. It also sends out a message. Bushwood signs this goalie for this moment, not the future, but NOW.
- He came to us last week, very out of shape, but has had the chance to demonstrate his skills in 2 games already, improving in each one, although still not letting in one single goal yet. He´s now perhaps at 50% of his capacity, but ready for some bigger games, why it is decided he should rest the next one in the cup...
- 31 years is not as much for a goalkeeper, he can be around for a good while still, and we wanted a real good keeper, to really make this team competitive.
- We have some good balance. This is a chance for this team to be as good as they can be.
Bushwoods co-owner Ty Web, is the one who enabled this transfer and financed the deal.
- Bushwood Country Soccer Club might be the Country Clubs youngest project, but in wich I am very interested in. - Ty Web announced.
- It´s an unorthodox project, at least for this club, which mainly involves in "rich sports" like golf and horse-riding. For some members it´s still a struggle accepting, but that´s something for the club board to handle. I however believe our soccerclub can be more than just a div3-team, perhaps even a real contender for a title some day. It´s just a shame it should create such a dispute among some of our members; but luckily we do have some wealthy people on board as well, to carry this thing forward, me being one of them!
*Bushwood CSC has just moved in to a new stadium for this season, wich was built by Al Czerviks construction company and Hartounian inc. "A perfect match", they were called in the media...although the contruction of the stadium caused some heavy protesting of some of the more conservative members of the Country Club.
