Anti-Climax At The Top

This week's top of the table clash was billed to be one of the games of the season as first place FC Tanon took on second place Iran at the Azadi Stadium. The game however, turned out to be a dud. With Iran apparently affording too much respect for approach the game cautiously ahead of their home fans, Tanon themselves were somewhat for justifiably if not also guilty of approaching this away fixture with a pragmatic mindset. The 0-0 draw was a dull affair with only 1 chance in the entire match going the way of FC Tanon in the final minute of play and Luc Bolle failing to find the target.

The pair meet again at UpYours this coming midweek where Tanites fans would be hoping their team show a bit more optimism playing at home. Keithsiah however have a dilemma on his hands as three of his players are suspended after Szilard Dunai got sent off at Azadi while Laurent Lhote and Ercwlff Young both got their 3rd yellows of the season. Bjorn Winnergren, who scored the winner against Ahaks F.C is expected to fill in for captain Lhote but the new recruit who joined Tanon pre-season have struggled for form. If there was ever a time for him to step up his game, it would be now and ensure the Tanites pull away from the rest of the crowd in the table.

Manager Keithsiah added "It wasn't a pleasant game to watch. And to come away with three suspensions leaves a bit of the sour taste in the mouth. However i signed Bjorn for a reason and i can assure you he will come good once he starts to feel his way in to his team. Cameron(Rimmer) had similar problems last season but he ended up scoring 5 goals and 2 assist by the end of the season and already has 4 goals this season"

The Tanites coach would certainly be hoping the likes of Rimmer and Wennergren can fill in the suspended superstar duo of Lhote and Dunai who have been so crucial throughout his tenure as manager.
