"Spared From Slaughter"
When asked how he felt, those were the first words that came from the mouth of Drake City's manager Nahtanoj during the post-match interview. "Toftwood Wanderers were formidable opponents. Being the away team didn't make it any better. Wouldn't you be happy if you came away with the draw we got?"

The Dragoons were the clear underdogs even from the start. The Wanderers controlled the pace of the game from the onset, and broke the deadlock on the 31st minute, compliments of skipper Brad Hardcastle in the six-yard box. But a mere four minutes later, the Dragoons' up-and-rising striker Pedro Mantorras leveled the score with a tremendous effort from outside the penalty area.

Then, more drama unfolded on the 61st minute. Wanderer's veteran defender Darryl Jordan had to be carried off the pitch after colliding into the Dragoons' captain Daley Downey. This might have spirited the Dragoons, but certainly more so for the Wanderers. From there, Drake City did well to snuff out most of the attacks from the home side, but by the 73rd minute, they conceded once more; dangerman Emmanuel Denys headed a well-delivered corner into the back of the net. But resolve would not let go of the Dragoons. With 10 minutes from time, newcomer Vincenzo Gasbarroni converted the last chance of the match into an occasion to be remembered for all at The Netherd stadium.

Nahtanoj also shared, "I'm extremely pleased with our performance. Call it luck if you want - we'll take it. We are not expecting the next few weeks to be easy on us, so we might as well keep the spirits high and make the most of this draw."
