BIG TIME!
After winning the Golden League last season 2-Tone Army now has the pleasure of representing the league in the XCL this time around and yesterday the all important draw was made.

Unlike the Official leagues where draws are made in relationship to manager location rather than team skill, some divisions are far tougher than others, in the XCL however there is simply no place to hide, every team is in there by merit and there are certainly no easy games to be found.

That said however it was certainly bad luck to be drawn in the same group as treble winners Imperium Sine Fine. They will surely be topping the group by some way but there doesn't seem to be much to choose between 2-Tone and the other two teams, despite this the MANagers in the know seem to be giving them little or no chance of getting through to the next stage.

Manager Winnywinny said, " Having seen the draw and getting over the initial shock of seeing GB's Imperial Sine Fine in the same group I'm actually pretty happy, it's highly unlikely that we'll get to the later stages so at least this way we get to play the reigning champs.  Having read the XCL forum thread no one see's us getting anywhere but we are at least getting the odd mention.

Having had a word with the clubs stat man we're actually looking pretty strong when you look at each teams strongest 352 and 451, they are as follows:

2-Tone Army          63-81-27 = 171     78-81-15 =174
Imperial Sine Fine  71-81-17 =169      82-81-11 =174
Hockeypojkarna     60-75-25 =160      70-81-14 =165
R8                         61-76-29 =166      67-81-16 =164

So according to the stats we're certainly up with the best but I've been in this game long enough to know that stats count for very little, what will make the difference at this level is uber skill players.  Imperium may be weak in area's but what they do have is 5 players with a skill of 18 or more and that's what wins you games, we're still a few seasons off getting to that stage.

Anyway we plan to do our best and see where that takes us, it will certainly help that we managed to make a quick exit out of the cup last week, it's not something I really like doing but it at least keeps us down to 2 games a week."

First up are Hockeypojkarna FC at home.
