The Chiefs 4 - 1 Futbol Ultra
Round 10 in Division 6:34
Season 42 in Xpert League
A bizarre series of events left the Futbol Ultra boss in an irritated mood following a second defeat to the Chiefs this season.
The game was always going to be a good one with both team's players in good form. One man in particular was raring to go, Ultra's up-and-coming goalkeeper being on max form following an extravagant birthday party for his son. Boss Donovinho felt confident that with this boost in form, along with the rest of his high-formers, Ultra could turn the screw at the Chief Arena.
However, with the game nicely poised at 0-0, the 19th minute saw an injury to Ultra's shot-stopper and he had to leave the field. Ultra's reserve goalie is a capable understudy but a game of this nature required top-drawer quality across the pitch.
And so it proved, as opponents the Chiefs took a 1-goal lead into half-time then romped away in the second half; replicating the 4-1 win at the Ultra Arena earlier in the season.
The match took an entertaining twist (for the neutral viewers tuning in to MOTD) as the second half was full of incident. Ultra missed a penalty, followed by the Chiefs being reduced to 10 men thanks to an injury. Ultra duly took advantage by rifling in an equaliser from beyond the half-way line, and it looked as though an Ultra demolition might be on the cards.
But despite all the drama Ultra lost their cool and the Chiefs very much kept theirs, with three goals in the last twenty minutes securing three important points.
Donovinho was less than pleased after the final whistle:
"Losing the keeper was a blow as he was totally fired up for the game and was dominating his box. But I will hear no excuses from my players. We missed a penalty and had a man extra, that needs to be three points in the bag"
