Dire consequences

Chaos has erupted at FC Gumuk-Gumuk tonight after their Champions League campaign ended in failure and the tensions between management and players finally imploded.

An emphatic and almost flawless tactical destruction of The Corleone Family earned the team three points, but in the end it was not enough to gain a qualifying slot. The recent power struggle between manger Catf and his erstwhile captain Paul Stanciuc had entered an uneasy truce pending today's result, a truce which has well and truly ended.

Catf had threatened an end to Stanciuc's career if the team did not qualify, while the striker in turn promised there would be dire consequences if this threat was carried out, promises he appears to have kept, and he was only too keen to talk to the press about it.

"I am not a man to be trifled with. When I say something I mean it." He said. "Tonight we have reached the ridiculous situation where the manager has tried to sack me. Sack Paul Stanciuc? Ridiculous! Of course nobody who knows about football would let that happen, and predictably the board of directors refused.

"What Catf didn't know was that I have been keeping records and recordings of all our dealings since our first meeting. I always knew he was a shifty character, and he had foolishly explained to me how his schemes worked and encouraged me to take excessive payments to join the club. For instance I know for a fact that at least 200 million econ has vanished from the clubs books in only 3 seasons. Two...hundred...million!

"Following this week's revelations you will have read in the press, I went to the Directors office and gave them an ultimatum, explained how the manger was playing us off against each other. They were all very embarrassed I knew the details of their dealings with him, and it seems they have decided to back me. The truth is Catf was finished here even before tonight's game.

"In addition I have given all the information I have to the authorities, who have assured me they already had a full dossier on Catf's activities going back years, and only needed the proof to suspend him from all footballing activities."

Catf was unavailable for comment.
