Welcome to Division 5 |
So it may have taken six seasons over two and a half year span, but I have finally taken Scooby Doo Inc to Division 5 of the Classic League!
I'm not typically one for press statements with this team, as I usually prefer to concentrate on maintaining form and developing my squad...not to mention the 30 odd million econ sitting in the bank that makes a measly 200k econ per week seem quite superfluous.
However I do feel compelled to express some of my insight at this stage of the club's development. Getting out of the squalor of the lower divisions tends to mean one is consistently facing tougher competition, not just in terms of team strength, but also in the level of activity and competence of other managers.
After starting the team from scratch, and stumbling my way through the early stages of Xpert, it took me a good year to cotton on to what needed to be done to build a team that could compete in the upper echelons of the official leagues. Slowly my team strength and squad value grew and after a season or two results started to follow. I currently feel the team looks promising, however I do anticipate cashing in on many of my 20-24 year-olds in the coming seasons and investing in some serious youth prospects.
Equally I have no intention of returning back to divisions 6 & 7 and remaining competitive whilst revamping my squad will be the challenge I face. The goal as ever is take my team to a point where I am consistently competing in the top divisions within the next 10-15 seasons.Yes I'm aware I've got quite a mountain to climb, but I'm committed to the cause! Xpert is to an extent ingrained into my daily routine at this point, and I doubt I'm alone in enjoying the feeling of having a continuous project to work on.
So bring on this season! Obviously Thornton Heath FC have an unreal squad, but Letham United will also have something to say and I can see VfL Wolfsburgo as being a bit of a dark horse. It would be great if my lads can be in the mix with the aforementioned sides, however realistically I will be happy with staying up and vying for promotion next campaign.
