It was never a matter of if, but WHEN Crimson Star would take out the Division 7:43 League title. But today's 6-0 hammering of SLVanessa confirmed it for them with three games still remaining.
Manager LFC73 said that while it's nice to pick up the accolade, it's been a very stale season in regards to keeping his players inspired.
"Right from the off we knew we'd cruise it," he said. "And while the lads have enjoyed playing some nice free flowing football at times, it's been difficult to keep their motivation going week in week out.
"We had more fun playing the several friendlies we've had, and I am considering one more, but do not want it to be detrimental to form as we approach the final run in of the season.
"This lack of motivation and quality opposition has seen a lot of my players struggle with consistent form, which has seen some low averages, which ultimately makes DV harder to get - along with the total lack of opposition experience.
"They're all in the 16's and 17's, but one would feel that should be reading at least one better. Several may squeeze out another point, but with time running out for notations I'm not holding my breath for many of them.
"We can only do what we can at this stage, and see out the final three games as best we can. There is one matter of interest to keep the lads going I guess, and that is the end of season accolades. Initially I thought we'd walk it all, but it's quite interesting that since we seem to be spreading the goals and assists quite nicely amongst the lads, that a player from one of the other (totally defunct) teams has an edge in the Assists department.
"There's another one up there as well," added '73, "so I'll be doing what I can to try and sneak that in. I keep looking to the experience of Joe Swanson as playmaker to get as many goal assists as possible, but he's been seriously lacking.
"We have an edge in the goals table which could end up touch and go, but one of my lads will clean up in the overall points section, no we totally own the X11 team merits. I guess it will be what it will be, but every econ counts in this game, so it would be nice to get a clean sweep. We shall just have to wait and see how it all pans out."
