Sami bows out in his own unique way |
No one could have written it any better.
Defender Sami Mustonen; a big gob, tough and freekick, 16 skill defender, played his last game for Temporarily United last night, aged 34, in a play-off for promotion to Division 4.
Temporarily went cautious whilst their opponents offensive, and if it wasn't for a goal chalked off early for them maybe they would have won.
But up stepped Sami, in his 293rd game for United, to take a booming free kick that burst the net. He's been doing it since he's 17.
Stats show: 56 goals and 39 assists.
It wouldn't be Sami if he hadn't then got sent off for the last 15 minutes, a second yellow (Stats show: 61 yellows in his career, and 7 straight reds).
Manager Rumpy said:
"We'll miss him. He's been a rock. He's gone a season too early, as we need him now we've been promoted to Division 4.
But, well, what a way to go. We salute you, Sami."
