Four games without a win for Viking |
Viking North Utsire's season is not getting any easier, with the Norsemen now on a troubling four-game winless run. They had to twice come from behind at home to More Mischief in their second-leg Ultimate League Cup third-round game the Friday before last, before securing a 2-2 draw and a 5-3 aggregate margin of success, before Monday brought an inevitable reverse at reigning league champions Jesus and his Pandas in Viking's first competitive meeting with the all-time greats. The Utsirans held their hosts until the break, but Giovanni Bonelli's freekick in the first minute of the second half made the difference.
There was then a frustrating fourth-round cup game this Friday, when Viking travelled to former league- and cup-winning giants Lusitanian Warriors. The pair's only previous meeting was at the same stage of the competition ten seasons ago, when the result was a one-sided 3-0 to the Warriors. This time, with Round 4 two-legged for the first time, Viking unexpectedly dominated at the Endovelicus Sanctuary but despite garnering all six of the chances on goal they could not break the deadlock -- meaning it is still all to do in the return leg at Dogger Bank next Friday. In the meantime, there is the small matter of a league trip to Season 44 champions Bayern de los caídos to navigate.
