Division 6:21, Super League
Manager: Morgoths_Bane
12 months in the Super League
Last day drama and league standing reshuffling meant the Night Lords would be heading to the Division 1 play-off in Season 42. What followed was an unremarkable game settled finally on penalties, with all 5 Night Lords hitting the mark. The game may have been unremarkable, but the jubilation at playing in the top flight was anything but.

Season 42 was the culmination of the hard-work (metaphorically speaking of course), long training sessions (the team was broke by the time it reached the Super League), results (I think so?), supreme luck (praise be to the Xpert Gods) and this Manager heeding expert advice on "winning" this game (paraphrasing Alf: "Get them to 17-18 DV, get in a few doubles and you'll be alright"). I was excited and rightly so.

What followed was a year of whirlwind emotions, disappointment and realisation that having just a highly-skilled team isn't gonna cut the mustard. Our funds were non-existent, our interest waning (a little) and being all outta luck with the Xpert Gods. There were some high-points in our short tenure including beating Whitsunday FC in our first ever clash with them, registering our biggest career win (7-0 against Worcester Ping Pong) and finishing 3rd in Season 45.

There were some low-points too; being ridden with injuries in Season 43 and 44, being dumped out of the Season 45 Cup by a Division 5 team 5 skill bars weaker than us; and the straw that broke the camel's back, amassing 6 draws out of the opening 6 games of Season 46. When we lost that 7th game, it was fantastic to know we weren't just the bore draw kings of the Super League. So, Season 46 finishes and with it the Night Lords sojourn at the top.

What lies next for the Night Lords is a quick tumble down the divisions, letting the last of the Night Lords 1.0 retire, and amassing our funds for our return to glory. We weren't the worst team to grace this league, but we were very, very, very far from being the best.
