| Retirement...at 18! |
I've been playing this game for over 10 years now and yes I've had a few surprises along the way but none more than youngster coming through the ranks recently.
As I opened up my email with glee as you do when you invest 300k per week in the academy my heart sank again as another also ran is there, a 4 bar 18 year old with a couple of sqs, my only hope was the fact he was a Hard Trainer so I though I'd start him at minimal price hoping a few people would jump on the HT rollercoaster and maybe I'd get a million for him.
A couple of days later I'm setting tactics and I notice he's not on the transfer market...daft bugger I thought, I must have forgotten to call the agent to let him know he was no longer required. With the weekend looming I needed to get him on there, so after speaking with him personally to ensure he knew his position what did he show me? A tattoo of the Celts crest across his back and his name changed by deed pole to Cornish Pasty!
This certainly caught me off guard, the lad is obviously extremely passionate about the club, and a bit nuts! He has stated his whole life evolves around the club and will never play for another team in his life as he drew some blood from his arm to sign the contract.
Not exactly sure how to handle this I showed him the printer next to the desk, he walked over and took out the paperwork in it, "P45 gaffer? Is that my squad number?"
No son, no it isn't. If you won't go on the transfer market the only place for you in this club is the tea room. You can't decide this is the only club for you at the tender age of 18. So bugger off, you're fired.
