In a shocking turn of events this week, Super Kings' (Power League Division 6 side) boss signed for Sev FC (Super League Division 3f side) and renamed them Super Kings AFC. The Super League side were without manager since 14th June and Sayan44's arrival on June 23rd came as a shock for many. Most of the fans didn't welcome the change as their ex-boss Relio was like a father figure at the club, although since 2018 Sev FC has gone through a lot of managerial changes with a total of 5 different managers having managed the team in the past 15 months.
Although it has been three days since the Sayan44's arrival, the new manager didn't face the press until their league game vs SC Marauders. Super Kings AFC (formerly Sev FC) managed to win the league match with a 2-1 scoreline. In the post-match conference, Sayan44 spoke out for the first time under his new regime to explain his move, future and targets:
"First of all, I would like to apologize to Super Kings fans in the Power League div 6 for leaving them so early. But I arrived there when they were facing serious doubts about their future, in fact they were about to go to administration and possibly dissolve after the season. Me and my staff pulled the club out of that situation, and they are now in a good position. I know it doesn't explain my sudden move but I feel I did an alright job, and ask for forgiveness of the Super Kings fans.
"About the move: It was a tempting offer, an offer I couldn't pass on. Firstly, despite those problems with Super Kings there was no competition in the league. With just one active manager apart from me it was hardly a job for any manager to manage the team. You just field a side every week and you will win comfortably. But this upper division has attracted me always, and this new team's managerial role was too tough to let go. I didn't know if I would get such an offer in the near future, hence I took the offer.
"The first win and possible future plans: it was a decent result for us. I studied SC Marauders previous games thoroughly and there was no doubt they would field the same 352 formation with no playmaker in this game too. The rest was up to me, to field my best side to give them a tough competition. The lads struggled though in the first half but they came back pretty well in the second; and our winning goal by Cirio was one of the best I have ever seen in my managerial career.
"My target is to get the team as high as possible in the league and have a good cup run. The work has already started since the moment I took over this team, and in the next cup game vs Bob Loblaw FF it will be a tough job for us. But we have to keep our focus, keep working hard and get the best results."
Some are saying this will be Sayan44's first real managerial test since his return to the job, only time will tell.
