Rebooting after a crash |
A game against a Black Flag side seemingly stuck in a tailspin provided the perfect opportunity for FK Radnik Roystjina to turn a recent run of poor results around on Sunday.
Radnik benefitted from scoring with their first two opportunities of the game, Asteri Etxarri firing home in the 8th minute and Wilmar Concalves doing likewise directly from a free-kick on 23. When Vitomir Andrejevic converted a penalty in the 32nd minute the match was already virtually won and Radnik were also three out of four on chance conversion.
Their final ratio was 4/6, both the second half openings falling to young midfielder Vitomir Bjedov, the first hitting the bar but his second chance, on 84 minutes, being headed.
4-0 it finished, a win that moved Radnik back up a spot to second in the Division 3e table. Roystjina boss Janik said of the game, "we were cruising from quite early on, so it is somewhat difficult to judge too much into this one. But the boys did take their chances well."
Prior to that Radnik's stuttering form had seen them knocked out of the Master League Cup at the Third Round stage after a thoroughly underwhelming performance against Division 5 side Patchwork Pirates.
The Roystjina outfit should have known how tough the fixture would be after the Pirates had pushed them hard in the first leg at Brownswood, which ended as a 1-1 draw. However the second leg hosts didn't appear to take notice of this, and were caught out by their visitors aggressive approach. Well, they are Pirates.
Radnik fell 1-0 down from the penalty spot in the first half, which put the hosts on edge for the rest of the game. Wilmar Conclaves equalised on 54 minutes with a goal directly from a free-kick, only for the sucker punch to come late on as Patchwork made it two goals from two chances by heading home a corner. That left Radnik with very little time to score two goals to turn the tie around; they didn't even manage one.
