6th Time Unlucky

We lost a cup final for the first time as a club, our 6th final ended in defeat by way of a penalty shootout. Our consistently reliable players from the spot had their first off day collectively and they all missed on the same day. We have enjoyed a very good run in shootouts and it had to end sometime, but of course with a place in the XCL at stake it was the worst time.

When we got knocked out of the XCL we were in dodgy shape for our cup tie the next day and facing Goal FC we expected to go out. That would've triggered a complete change as we got rid of some elder players and refocused our efforts on the YA project. Instead we won and whilst we still had a shot at another XCL we couldn't disrupt things. Now we lost the final and blown promotion prospects of course I wished we had made our moves.

Anyway that is our intention for next season now and not promotion, it's been an adventure but this wasn't the plan, we meant to continue evolving and transitioning into an all YA team but then we won promotion to this division and somehow found ourselves in the XCL so just went with the flow, but now we've reached the waterfall and it's time to regroup. We have still managed to develop all of the youth players we have and a new one and they've all played in huge games, some most or all of them, and grown from this experience.

Congratulations CCCP on promotion, ran away in style.
