Maniacs Go DOWN!

After one season in Div 5, the going seems too hot for Maniacs as they finished second last after a disappointing last game against basement club Gtronics this evening losing 2-3. A win would have guaranteed them survival but many would now question the wisdom of the gaffer in fielding 17year old Noam Kapo in such a crucial game. Not only that, some critics pointed out that fielding a low skilled Ioan Cuc together with Sheen may have blunted the attack. With many criticisms towards the team selection, the gaffer stood strongly by what he had decided, "I feel we would be better off to rebuild in Div 6 next season. I have to give Cuc and Kapo a fighting chance to get the most of experience. Even then it is not sufficient for 100% and that is disappointing." "However, we have done what we do best all the time. Coming back up when the chips are down. Maniacs will rise again next season. Mark my words! We have a young team sans Jeffers, Tracey, Wicks and Moran. Moran may not be around much longer. Jeffers, Wicks and Tracey will have at most another couple of seasons left but I will be making hard decisions at the end of the season as to who leaves and who stays." That hints of a clearout esepecially the defense whereby Bynkvik, Tracey and Wicks amongst the walking oldies will probably be the targets.
