Steam Surge! Darlington Go Top!
Darlington Steam turned up the heat at St Aidan's Academy, cruising to a 2-0 win over fellow promotion hopefuls FC Riftbreakers - and with it, they steamed their way to the top of the table!
Alfred Droste, the midfield dynamo and proud new mayor of Darlington (not official, but vibes say yes), opened the scoring with a strike so clean it might get a Michelin star. The fans at St Aidan's were seen fainting, singing, and proposing to strangers - sometimes all at once.
Not wanting to miss out on the party, Riftbreakers thoughtfully scored an own goal, handing Darlington a second and prompting one brave fan to yell, "We'll take those all season, cheers lads!"
Next up? Parreta CF - but with this form, Darlington are looking less like a football team and more like an unstoppable Steam Train.
And that's not the only buzz around the Academy. In a heartwarming moment, 17-year-old Eddie Rock - a 4-star defensive prodigy and former Academy captain - has been promoted to the first team. Eddie's been described as "stronger than a caffeinated ox" and "cooler under pressure than a penguin at a barbecue."
Manager Dazzler1703 took to the mic after the game:
"Massive win at home. Droste? What a baller. That own goal? Beautiful teamwork if you ask me! As for Eddie Rock - the kid's built different. He's got leadership in his veins. We're ready to keep this train moving against Parreta. Full steam ahead!"
Steam fans, buckle up. It's getting serious now.
