Benfica Slip hands Stags the Title
A thrilling night of action in Division 4j saw Alpha Benfica and Dominators struggle under the pressure as they recorded a 0-0 draw, leaving the door wide open for the Picket Piece Stags to secure the title with a not-entirely comfortable 3-0 home victory against the Wilson Winners, scoring with 3 of their 4 shots on goal.
It took 50 minutes for the Stags to break down their stubborn opponents, with Marcelino Fontela stabbing home following a corner, and the fans went crazy, with those listening on the radio to the other games knowing that this was their opportunity.
17 minutes later it was 3-0, and the fans attention was now 100% on the other game, and a huge roar after 95 minutes confirmed the news the Stags were waiting for, and the celebrations could begin with their players still on the pitch awaiting the news.
This removes the requirement for a stressful playoff game, and the players and manager can enjoy their holiday before the preparations for the new season begins.
