Costly return to top of the table
GOAL! Estadio Lucifer erupts with joy on the fourth minute as Matchstick Men's captain Haas puts the ball in Moderate Koalas' net.
BOO! Travis Tee disallows the goal and Estadio Lucifer erupts again to a darker sound of anger and despair.
"What a start," enjoys Matchstick Men manager Tony Brazil, "I'd be upset but we have the measure of the Moderates and another goal is sure to come."
BOO! Matchstick Men's Anselmo Costamera is clattered and carried off on a stretcher leaving Brazil to darken, "I'm upset now."
Matchstick Men had all the chances in the first half and continue to do so in the second but it is not until the 64th minute they finally find the net as Derelioglu heads in a goal that stands.
No great earthquake happens after the goal, more a mutter of appreciation and apprehension after the first half horrors. Then Britte Redde livens up the proceedings.
Redde has come on as sub for the injured Costamera, and decides after the first goal to make a name for himself. First he gets booked for an ambitious tackle, then he throws himself into the mixer at a corner to head in Matchstick's second goal.
GOAL! Estadio Lucifer lights up as the second goal is a safety cushion.
GROAN! Derelioglu is chopped down in injury time and home fans fear the worst; but the player is able to continue for the final twenty seconds of play.
"This result has put us top of the league for the first time this season. Back where we belong," smiles Brazil, "it's been a game of highs, lows and groans; all good stuff but Costamera's injury could cost us dear in the long term if he is out for the Champions League games."
