Cup Exit

Janes Addiction boss LFC73 was a little gutted at their Cup exit on the weekend, but was full of praise for the efforts of his young charges.
"A fine performance from all the lasses involved," he said. 'We were certainly up against it after the 0-0 stalemate at our place where they literally parked the bus, but we went to their place with some intent and got a couple of tactical decisions spot on!
"Getting to extra time was probably an achievement in itself, and to then take the lead with a thoroughly deserved penalty just five minutes in gave me firm belief we could see out a famous victory.
"Unfortunately I think some of the younger girls' heads were still in the clouds to see us concede just four minutes later, but all credit to them to hold out for a penalty shootout.
"From the outset I knew that this situation would be a dead rubber when comparing goalkeepers and the quality of their potential takers against ours, although it was rather disappointing to see our best player on the pitch have her attempt saved, but kudos to their Keeper on a fine performance all round.
"All in all its been a great experience for the younger girls to actually get through to the second round stage of the Cup after being blown out in the first over the past few seasons, and the experience of facing up against very decent quality sides through these matches will hopefully aid towards some decent DV points at the end of the season!"
