KElliott finally had something to say about last weekend’s fixture away to FC Catalunya Central. UU Accies left the Sóstói úti Stadion with all 3 points and were sitting top of the table for the first time since Round 1 so it was a bit of a surprise that the Accies gaffer hadn’t released anything before today.
“This will need to be quick, I’ve got a match to go to: we skanked it!” he said, in reference to Drew Harsley’s double strikes on 62 and 93 minutes to secure the valuable 3 points. “I know we shaded possession (57%) and had 4 chances to Catalunya’s 2, but it still felt that we robbed them. Duggs hasn’t said anything, then again he never does, so I’ll say it for him. It’s happened to me often enough to know how it feels when you concede after the 90 and drop the points: real painful; I feel for the guy.
“But the points are ours now and we won’t change it. To top it off HSCFC turned over LPA 3 – 1 putting us at the top of the tree! Brilliant stuff,” the Accies manager beamed.
KElliott has been going through a bit of a purple patch recently with a series of wins under his belt, one or two in unexpected fashion.
“Our last game in the Cup seems to have caused a bit of a stooshie! There was even a veiled allegation of potential match fixing and now I understand the Spanish authorities are considering our match with FC Olympus for an investigation? Are they serious? We got lucky, it happens. Today we face a tough Kardiff Kiwis side and know this will be our toughest challenge yet. Can we be lucky again? I hope so but realistically we shouldn’t even be in the Cup at this stage!
“That’s it folks. I need to go, there’s not long to kick-off.”
