An away 0-0 draw secured in the first leg last week against Red Star Partisans served as a solid platform to build on today at home, but we got an extreme test of our metal to come through both of these games. The game was one which pitted 2 managers in a similiar situation and apparently holding similair objectives against one another. The result was both line-ups suggesting that the cup meant a lot, but risks were still taken on team selection with some young players dotted around both starting 11s. Despite running into a 2-0 lead inside 10 minutes, I never felt comfortable and they were soon finding their way back into the match. After relentless pressure they eventually had the ball in the back of the net on 77 minutes to set up a panicky final quarter of an hour which seemed like a quarter of a day! They needed a single goal to win on the away goals rule so we had to keep them out, but, at the same time we remained desperate to kill the match as we were starting to get found out at the back. In the 89th minute we responded to a barrage of attack with a fast-becoming trademark Tony Idberg bullet strike which sent us through to the 4th round in style, atleast on paper. We had some huge performances out there today, and although in terms of skill due to retirees and skill losses we have gotten weaker overall compared to last season, the youngsters are starting to find their place in the squad now and punching well above their weight at times.
