Devon Utd appoint Stapleton as new boss
The Devon United board are pleased to announce Adrian Stapleton as their new first team manager. Stapleton has signed a one and a half year deal. We spoke with him earlier on today at JLC Stadium.
"It's great to be here at Devon United. When they contacted me, and told me about the financial backing and support, I instantly knew this was the club for me.
There are some decent players here, but my main focus will be using the money the club has on increasing the standard of the Youth Development System. Before I joined, not a single player had graduated from the youth team, to make an appearance for the first team. That changes from here on.
I have already got 17 year old Joe Towler to sign a professional contract. I see good things in that young lad. For some unknown reason no one had noticed his potential before. I am also looking at some young players from other clubs to train with us for the rest of the season.
My main goal for the rest of this season is to give experience to the younger players, and prepare them for a promotion push next season. I feel that if we were to get promoted this season, it would be a little premature, and could cause us to struggle in Division 6, so therefore I want to make sure we are completely prepared before going up."
