Big Bullying Sporting
Sporting Afriqué put six past Lightning Bolt in the first round of the cup competition. Having already hammered their opponents 0-5 away from home, the aggregate scoreline was shameful in the end at 11-0.
Sporting Afriqué's head coach Jermaine decided to slot his new signings right into the first team and giving some first team stars a rest in a game that was literally a mere formality as Sporting walked all over their opponents without remorse.
17-year-old Caesar Kahn, who was having his debut, got himself a debut goal with a long range effort towards the final moments of the game. He was to be substituted at 65' but an unfortunate injury to Paulo Portela meant he had to see out the game and he was brilliant all round. A tough guy with freekick potential and a very good mentor in the person of Paulo Portela who will be out for 12 days with a groin strain.
The other debutant was also a teenager and is officially the youngest in the squad at 16 years. Sammi Hyypia showed great stamina as he ran marathons at the left flank as a fullback. He was bold both in defence and attack and contributed a goal with a perfect cross into the box for Leachlainn Flanagan to head home Sporting's fifth of the night.
The home supporters could be heard from miles away singing in sync the many rhymes and rhythms composed in tribute to a beloved club.
