The result is usually all that matters to Gentlemen's Practice manager Gareth Phoenix but the result was over shadowed by their only goalkeeper Nalle Bjurstrom going off injured and having to be replaced by striker and all round legend Hector Durkan. Luckily the Mexican didn't have a save to make all game but with a huge cup game on Friday, Phoenix admitted he would have to look to the transfer market for a short term replacement.
Phoenix: "Life sometimes throws you curve balls and this is one of them. We're a close knit team and we'll rally round Nalle because no one is more upset than him. He's a big character in the changing room and to lose him with two huge games Friday and Monday is a huge blow to us but its not the first time it's happened and we run the risk with having just one goal keeper. Last year we won Division 1 but we lost Nalle in the first game of the campaign but managed to secure a great stand in and I'm confident we'll do the same again having bid on a player who I'm confident on bringing in just before Fridays game."
The game itself was a cracking three points and an unbelievable team effort. They came at us straight out of the blocks after we knocked them out of the cup on Friday and to be in the position we were in from the second minute the team rallied around and played a very tight game. This means we weren't at our clinical best but to restrict them to zero shots on goal and get the three points was all that was important. We're not the most skillful team in the league not by a long way but this performance just reiterates the team spirit and belief these lads have in each other that they'll run through a brick wall for each other.
