Well, it's certainly an entertaining time to be a Gentlemen's Practice fan. Current Xpert International Champions, thrown into the first round of the cup for the first time in about 6 seasons and their first-ever stint in the XCL against the best of the best. What a mixed bag it's been! Starting off in the league and the defense of their title...
Ok prior to their opening game they had already played two competitive games with preseason being cut short by the XCL and swiftly followed by the 1st round of the cup two days later. Anyhow Gareth Phoenix's men are 3 games into their defense and sit on top of 3 losses...
Phoenix: This won't do, no one at the club is happy with the start and we've given ourselves an uphill challenge now with a young hungry team in Unwell looking like we did at this stage last term. We won't make excuses it's not good enough. Two of those games we know we could have won and now we need to step it up. 3 games a week was never going to be easy on form but the lads seem to get up for the XCL without an issue so we need to realize we have paying fans coming to these league games too and turn these results around FAST!
We love playing footy, we don't complain about the amount of games because the more we play means the more successful we've become. However, the cup will start to become more difficult as each round passes and the XCL... well every game is against a champion!
It's ok to look at our XCL form and see how well we've done in our first 4 games but the league form is a worry and something we're working on to turn around as it just won't do.
