Kings win division title |
The final matchday of Super League saw Super Kings winning the Division 3f title.
Coming into the final matchday, Super Kings had already overcome the hurdle of facing Wolf Nation in a battle for title glory last week and Super Kings went to the top of division 3f following their win. Wolf Nation were breathing on Kings' neck as they were just a point behind Super Kings hence a win was needed to assure the division title.
Super Kings were hosted by MPSM in the final matchday. Kings played the majority of the season with 3-5-2 formation, and this time it wasn't different either. They went with their top two strikers Ryan Esson and Thomas Cartini. It took Sayan44's side 32 mintues to find the first goal of the match as the man on form Ryan Esson scored his 9th goal of this season.
MPSM didn't manage to create any chances in the first half. They kept a lot of possession initially at the beginning of second half, but failed to capitalize on that possession. They were hit by Amado Praça's injury in the 55th minute as manager Zegood was forced to bring on young Rafael Lajes in his place. Kings' 3 man back-line stood firm to keep any threat created by MPSM away.
In the final minute of the season, Takuboku Poi decided to have a run at the MPSM defence, when he broke clear through, resulting in Super Kings' second goal of the day. The match ended with Super Kings winning the match by a comprehensive 2-0 scoreline. The celebration of division title win followed after, but manager Sayan44 was thoughtful:
"it's a great time to be a Kings fan. I have always been one, and it's such a pleasure to lead them to glory. I dreamt about this day since we were embarrassed in the Super League Cup earlier this season. If you look at my previous pressers, you will find that I made a promise to the fans, to the players and most importantly to myself, that we shall overcome the nightmare of cup with glory of the division win. I am happy that my players and fans helped me to keep my promise. It's such a nice feeling to finally have a happy family here, I feel like I have arrived home after a long exile.
"With that being said, I would like to remind the players and the fans that this was my goal for this season but we're still two divisions away from the top one, and that's where we should be looking at. But at the moment, it's our time to celebrate and then look at the change report, which will arrive I presume after two days from today?
"I am happy with my current squad. But I will decide about changes that are needed only after the arrival of the change report. Some key areas I have already identified, that is in the defense mainly. Also I would like to bring in a new goalkeeper who is young and ready for the cup competition. The only confirmed departures are Abhay Jitrik and Boseda Ukah, who will end their trials this week and will no longer be part of the squad.
"Further plans, will be revealed once we have the change report. At the moment we shall celebrate this massive win, and leave for a holiday afterwards."
