To the Top!
It's been a long time coming, but Parkway Forest finally attained their longtime goal of making it to the top flight. It was a photo finish at the top of Div 1a. Forest had been dueling with FC LULE for most of the season and came into the penultimate week on top, but a shock loss against Famalicão, LULE's penchant for draws, and the resurgence of Badalhocos saw Forest drop from 1st to 3rd.

The final game of the season would be against Badalhocos, who usurped Forest's spot at the top of the table by a single point. Forest needed to win to stand a chance at the title, knowing that LULE needed to only match Forest's result to win on goal difference.

Forest manager Codespyder decided to throw all caution to the wind. This approach was dependent on a strong defense... which was immediately crippled by a severe injury to goalkeeper Mauro Areosa. Cup keeper Mats Vik was, therefore, called up to play the biggest game of his life, and the 23-year-old stepped up to the challenge.

After 16', Forest's pressure broke through the stout Badalhocos defense. Defender Doug Leaper made good on his name and climbed the highest to meet a Serge Costes corner and get Forest on the board. More chances came and passed, but Forest could not cement their chance superiority and the teams went in at halftime 1-0 in favor of the home side

After the break, Badalhocos drafted in their 17-year-old striker Harry Kane (wait wasn't he playing for Spurs at the weekend?) in favor of their more skilled 21-year-old striker Renato Velez. Somehow it managed to work, as poor Forest marking on a Badalhocos corner saw midfielder Matthias Renou ghost in to equalize on 60'

A hush settled upon the Forest support, and with LULE drawing their match against Maaalmö, it meant that Forest were once again pegged back to third place. Codespyder played his final hand, shuffling on a new striker and midfielder on 70' to try and provide an impetus.

Slowly but surely, Forest went through the gears and inevitably, the biggest moment would go to the biggest player. As time ticked away and Forest's efforts were becoming increasingly futile, Captain Tue Bech Holten, who has played a major role in elevating Forest in the past three seasons, picked up the ball from Leaper and ran the length of the pitch. Badalhoco defenders parted like the sea as SS Captain Parkway Forest steamed through to send the home crowd into a state of delirium.

And it would be this famous goal that sealed Forest's first-ever promotion into the Hattrick League proper. More comments from the manager will come in time as he reflects on a challenging but rewarding season, and the daunting prospects to come.
