Goal Just Before Half Time Sinks Minnows
On Friday lunchtime, we welcomed Top of the Table 'Forza Verde FC' to 'The Pond' for a vital Round 3 fixture. We wanted a positive result from the game and decided that going with a five-man midfield and a defensive playing style was the best way to go.

'Forza Verde FC' made a good start to the game and looked to have scored from a corner in the 14th minute, but thankfully the goal was disallowed for offside. They continued to dominate throughout the rest of the half and eventually took the lead through a free kick in a dangerous position on 41 minutes.

We made a substitution at the start of the second half with Adolf Nissenbach making way for Markus Wiener in defense. Despite the change, 'Forza Verde FC' continued to have the upper hand in the second half although their chances were limited. In the 74th minute, we made our second change with Gerd Tiemann coming off to be replaced by Dennis Surmann. With a minute left to go in regulation, we made our last change with Andry Ehrlich being substituted by Claus-Dieter Holzwarth.

A minute into injury time and we had a chance to equalize, but their keeper made an easy save and we dropped our first points of the season. We remain in 4th place and must bounce back with a good week to keep us in touch with the top.
