Weekly Words: Round 4 |
A return of what was once a relatively popular feature, perhaps it will once again become a regular segment. We take a look at Division 5:11 of the Dream League:
AmericaTeam 1 - 1 TheMaggotHeads The Division's only two winless teams remain just that after sharing the points at America Stadium. Cedric Van Der Gun maggoted headed the visitors in front on 36 minutes, only for substitute Andrea Drulovic to level for AmericaTeam with ten minutes remaining. Drulovic had replaced Daniel Paillo, who had left the field with a severed head.
Vadstena United 5 - 0 Tibi 23 Vadstena are sweeping all before them this season and slaughtered an insipid Tibi 23 at Kungsvalla. Julian Malte put them in front after just five minutes and the trend continued. Malte assisted Peter Kohl to the second on 20 minutes, Dick Otterdahl got another just after the half hour before adding a second 11 minutes from time. Hubert Arrighi completed the rout with just two minutes remaining.
Economic Girlymen FC 4 - 2 Big Brown Bears Probably the match of the round. Gavin Derby busted his ass for the Bears, and consequently has to be replaced on five minutes. Divino Gallardo put the hosts in front on 33 minutes, before George Brough levelled for the Bears. Rene Lendl put the Girlymen in front just after the interval, before Harry Kane made it 3-1 a few minutes later. Lendl added a second on 66 minutes to make the points safe for Economic Girlymen, before Wim Kieft notched a consolation for the Bears. The Girlymen lived up to their name, picking up three injuries late in the match.
The Blue Coltranes 3 - 0 M.U.F.C A straight forward day for the hosts, thanks entirely to Rick Woodhouse, who got all three goals. Woodhouse got the opener on 13 minutes from Malte Gröning's pass, and added further strikes on 64 minutes (after another assist from Gröning) and 86 minutes to wrap up the contest and keep The Blue Coltranes hot on the pace set by Vadstena United.
MVP: Ademir Bernardo produced an amazing match in an underworked defence for Vadstena United.
Golden Boot: Rick Woodhouse hit the day's only hattrick for The Blue Coltranes. Could he make the difference in the title race this season?
Dirty Daddy: Astonishingly enough, there were no dismissals or tackles leading to injuries, but Malte Gröning from The Blue Coltranes gets the award for losing his temper and picking up a booking after his two assists today. Dude, you had a good day, chill out a bit!
Next week: Third placed Economic Girlymen travel to second placed The Blue Coltranes in the match of the Round. Elsewhere, AmericaTeam need to get a win against Big Brown Bears if they are to do anything this season, winless TheMaggotHeads face leaders Vadstena United, and M.U.F.C square off against Tibi 23 in the battle of the also-rans.
