From Chumps To Champs
When I took over " Edinburgh Hearts" as they were then, back at the tail end of season 45 (in March 2016) they were nailed on for relegation to Division 5, having never reached higher than Division 3.  Another swift relegation to Division 6 then came, whilst we built up a massive 250m warchest from selling off the squad and spending a couple more seasons churning over 17/4s into 18/6s.

And then we started "the build".  We knew it was a long-shot, but throw a bunch of 16/4s and 17/5s together, with a big pot of cash to train and several years of dedicated logins, trainings and a dash of luck, we finally made it to the big time this season.  And delivered!

Hats off to Dr.Sado and his But Masters who we've just dethroned as League Champs.  It's a testament to his skill that although we were three bars ahead in average team performance (a staggering 19 bars for the season!) he was just two points behind us.  In fact, the division is packed with top managers.  Whilst my current ranking of 119 in the world is great, its is only good enough for 6th best in the Hattrick League top flight!  This is where the big boys play!  I only picked up one MOTR so safe to say it was the team that got us over the line more so than the manager.

So what now?  We "peaked" this season - average age bang on 29.  And from next season we start tipping over that line that sees performances drop.  I could tinker with the team and try and get the age down a bit, but sacrifice quality.  I don't think so.  We'll go at the XCL full force and hope we still have one more season of phenomenal performances.

But for now, we'll bask in the glory of winning an Official League title after many years of trying.  Was it worth the wait?  Just about...
