Double Delight!
Last season's Cup Final ended in disappointment when we lost 2-0 to underdogs Saint O'Neill. But we put that ghost to rest this morning with a 3-0 win over former six-time winners Samba Juniors. The scoreline flattered us really, with the chances created even at five a piece.
So we add the Cup to the League trophy for an epic double - and yet we must still put the celebrations on hold!
We face Kloppoholics Anonymous tomorrow evening with a place in the XCL semi-finals the prize for whoever comes out on top. The first leg at our place ended 0-0, so we need to travel to Westfalanfield in the hopes we can either find some away goals, or get lucky on penalties.
And then, if that wasn't enough, we still need to round off the League campaign in style with a tough trip to Mosshagen United GFC - if we hadn't picked up a point in our last League match against But Masters on the weekend, then this game would have been a title-decider in itself!
Whatever happens over the coming days, one thing is clear - our current cycle of success is coming to a close. The squad is already past its prime, and if we do somehow get into the semis of the XCL then there is another change report coming coming before that to make us even older! Whilst we've already booked a spot in the next XCL, I don't think we'll have enough left in the tank for that!
