The Barrels started the season dreadfully, with two consecutive losses in the league, against Syracuse Bulldogs and Celtic XI. The team sharpened up after that however, and has since remained undefeated, only losing points in a 0-0 draw away against third placed TFD FC.
With two games left, the team once again faced Syracuse Bulldogs. Although the Bulldogs were arguably the better team throughout the game, it was goalkeeper Joseph Abree of The Barrels who were the deciding factor. The Barrels quickly took the lead through a an awful shot from Viktor Kranig, who seemed just as surprised as the rest of the team that he had scored.
After that the Syracuse offensive started, but Abree stood tall and fended off the shots, keeping the sheet clean and marking his greatest game ever. The world class keeper has now kept a clean sheet in 9 out of 13 league games this season,
The team is now in first place, and has promotion within their own control! All that is required is three points against Celtic XI, who surprised the club by defeating The Barrels 0-2 in the first round of the season.
