Hassall hailed |
Dempton coach Rafa G hailed the contribution of midfield youngster Scott Hassall, after the 19-year-old chipped in with a vital goal and an assist today.
The D's needed to win to sustain their unexpected position at the top of the table with a game to go, and Hassall's performance helped them do exactly that.
Dempton beat Sannox 2-0 at home to end match day 13 level on points with long time league leaders Green Tractors, but just ahead on goal difference.
The D's and Tractors are now certain to finish in the top two, with a five point cushion emerging after the most recent set of games, with only one to play.
Whatever happens on the last day, it will constitute an improvement on recent seasons, in which Dempton have regularly finished in 3rd place, but never higher.
Speaking of Hassall, Rafa G said: "He is only young but i thought with his energy he would give a good balance to the midfield. Even I was surprised by his contribution though, he is definitely someone with a good future if he continues like this."
