Where's it at! |
FK Radnik Roystjina's game at FC Dinaburg was the go-to match for excitement on Matchday 7 in Division 3e.
The fixture pitted leaders Dinaburg up against third-placed Roystjina, with the hosts initially on top, taking the lead in the 22nd minute. Radnik responded through Vitomir Andrejevic on 41 minutes, the forward heading home a corner. That saw the teams turn around level at 1-1, which is how the score remained after a goalless second half.
If that all seems pretty mundane - then you are right, it was. However it was still the most exciting game in 3e as the other three fixtures all produced goalless draws! That meant is as-you-were in the table, with Radnik holding on to third spot at the season's midway point, three points adrift of Dinaburg, one point behind second-placed Sporting Murmansk, and three clear of sixth-placed side FC Kelso.
Radnik boss Janik remarked "It has been a decent, but not spectacular, season so far. Our aim is to move things up a couple of notches in the second half of the campaign."
Radnik retain a decent hope of progress in the Master League Cup despite a 2-1 4th Round, 1st leg defeat at Division 4 side Mafamude FC.
The score in this game could easily have been worse for Roystjina, after they somehow ended the first half 1-0 up despite clearly being the second best side in the period. However Mafamude missed their chances (plural) and Radnik converted their opening (singular), Urby Soesoe heading home in the 44th minute.
Radnik's lead didn't last long after the restart, Mafamude drawing level on 48 minutes. The hosts then went ahead, something they patently deserved, with 77 on the clock. but that was the end of the scoring, leaving Radnik boss Janik with a "we rather got away with that one" feeling.
