XCL of the Future - Part 1 |
FC Ballbreakers, PF Stratocasters, Imperium Sine Fine, KBM Whitsunday, BK Hammarslag, Jesus and his Pandas, Smogens IF, The Perishers, SparkaSpring FC, The AntiChrists, Samba Juniors, Avd. 53. All famous clubs in their own right and the teams everyone knows about, often considered some of the greatest teams of all time. Of course, the XCL contenders change every few seasons and so after the likes of The AntiChrists, SparkaSpring, African Spears etc have stepped down from their periods of success, who will come to fill the spaces? In this article, we will ask the question, what will the XCL of the Future look like?
To find out we have trawled the official leagues for the most promising squads around. Since the XCL of present has 32 spaces (this may change in the future) we have gone out to look for 32 squads to fill these spaces, two from each league. So, it is time to present the Xpert Daily’s XCL of the future, starting with the original international leagues.
As a quick note, teams have been chosen based on their squad value relative to their age, with a general look towards the top end of the spectrum in squad value. Not all of these teams will make it of course though, but it wouldn’t be too farfetched to presume that some of these will be the teams competing for the big prize in the future.

We start with the Classic League. Home of the “All time standings” due between Cloggies and The Mighty Cats, a league which has produced such names as Fianna fisherman, The Pecorators and perhaps most famously, Gokturk Empire, the former title winning team of HakanCaglak. However, these teams have had mixed success in the XCL. The Pecorators famously got to the semi-finals in the 24th XCL but the teams have generally been weaker than their counterparts. But not any more...

Still in the very early stages of development, but with a squad value of over 200 million econ already and some outstanding young players like Alberto Quaresma, Alexandru Gavril and Todai Mowina they have the backbone of a great team, possibly the greatest team that the Classic League has ever seen. As the youngster of the official leagues, the Classic League has often struggled against the more established leagues but with this team that could be able to change. A team to keep an eye on for sure.

Das Wunderteam:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=206887&Boost=0&dh=1
A very different type of team, STon3’s team resembles a very close knit conveyor belt like club with a broad range of ages. And the players in those age ranges aren’t bad. They may not end up in the top flight for long of course but that never stopped Samba Juniors from winning the XCL by dominating the cup, so this team cannot be ruled out yet. This team is actually the new guise of former Classic League Champions The Pecorators and we caught up with ST0N3 for a chat.
XD: You’ve been at this club for about 9 seasons or so and are sat in a solid midtable position in Division 4 with a squad of over 200 million econ. How would you say the rebuilding of this team has gone so far?
ST0N3: On the one hand pretty decent in terms of team development, but on the other hand I got disappointed a lot with results lately. I never expected to drop down as far as D4 and many more bizarre results saw me far away from the promotion spots last season as well. Right now I just feel that I could trouble even the big clubs in the league, but the club really needs to start climbing the ladder asap.
XD: Do rebuilding teams have an advantage over brand new teams when it comes to constructing new squads?
ST0N3: Yes, of course. Most of the times even the most ruined team has one or two players that can be sold for a few econs, while new teams really do have to start from scratch. Yes, the rebuilding side in D1 will take a few hammerings, while the new squad in D7 plays for promotion, but over the course of things the older side will have the edge for quite a while.
XD: The old Pecorators team made it to the semi-finals of the XCL on one occasion. Given the club’s history have you ever felt any pressure in this job?
ST0N3: Only at the start. The highest I've played before joining the Pecs was D2, so I was kinda nervous in my first few matches. When I took over I lead the club from the relegation spots to the vice championship with a far from best squad in the division. Afterwards I settled pretty quickly and I have to admit that me being in top class private leagues like The Country Club or Captains Club at the time helped as well.
XD: You have just recorded a solid mid-table finish in Division 4 as the current Classic League season ends? Do you have any plans for next season or is it just going to be solely based on development?
ST0N3: Development will, of course, be the target for a young side like mine, but surely we need to start rising now, as well as going for a little cup run. The first 11 is as strong as anyone's and I'm really puzzled, as to why it just isn't happening for me in the official side of things. The experience from the private leagues should be there, but I finally need to turn power into results.
XD: Thank you and good luck
ST0N3: Always a pleasure!

The Dream League has often been one of the most open Official Leagues out there. Except for on the odd occasion where a team has flat out dominated. Between Seasons 16 and 20, PF Stratocasters/Guardian Angels won five consecutive titles and not long after that, South Hooligans won four in a row, adding a sixth title overall three seasons afterwards while rebuilding the team. With the latter still rebuilding and the former languishing in Division 6 unlikely to be resurrected to former glories ever again, the door is open for new teams to take the glory. And there are two teams that look like they could become the new dominant force in the league:

Dream Titans:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=502412&Boost=0&dh=1
With many of the players in the 23-25 age range and the club in Division 3, they could yet become a real dynasty in the Dream League if they can gain promotion in the next few seasons. The Titans were built by a Swede, Miter, who joined the club in Season 12. They were known as FC Stteeaauua back then and were relegated in their first season under Miter back to Division 7 but after being renamed FC Lönnemåla they started to climb the leagues, getting as far as Division 4 before getting stuck and losing a play-off final. A gradual decline occurred until the current squad was put in place and they have fired their way up to Division 3 and are now battling for promotion to Division 2 in their second season at this level. We caught up with Miter to discuss his team and its progress so far.
XD: You have been with Dream Titans for nearly 20 seasons now. During that time you have experienced many peaks and troughs although it was looking good at first until your team reached the Division 4 play-off final. Sadly your team lost it and they never seemed to get back to that sort of level again. What was the catalyst in your decision to build the current squad?
Miter: That loss was a tough one, as I didn’t just lose the play off, but even the league came down to scored goals away. We had the same overall stats – so it was really a tough one. And as I was unable to progress for several seasons with the squad I had at that time I felt my interest for this game declining. I came to the crossroad of either quitting the game or start a complete rebuild. At that time the stamina had just came in to play so I set up a goal of bringing in hard training ones.
The core of my players actually has the cone, bar one player.
XD: Of your current squad, do you have a favourite player and if so, who?
Miter: There are several players I have grown really attached to, but if I have to pick one it will have to be Ferdinand Lines. He has constantly been performing very well and have been really easy to develop, always eager to take another step forward.
XD: At the time of conducting this interview, Dream Titans are currently leading Division 3a, but only on goal difference. You have a massive match against your title rivals this Sunday, how do you think your team will fare?
Miter: We are going for all the points, eager to get revenge for the draw Himmelsblå Pågar got at The Dream Arena. They have a good squad and can't be underestimated so we will have to be on top of our game.
Still I haven’t decided the line up completely. But I can tell you that most of the players will enter the field with 18 or better in form :-) (Titans have since won this match 3-0)
XD: Thank you and good luck. Hopefully we shall see the Dream Titans in the XCL at least a year from now.

Spurs Kickers
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=215732&Boost=0&dh=1
The Season 26 Dream League champions are undertaking possibly one of the most impressive rebuild jobs ever. After selling off most of their old team in their prime, a squad is being put together with some amazing players, the standout player being defender Javier Joaquin at an incredible 18/8. But among his defensive partners he doesn’t stand out by much as Frank Arley and Bebe Rajao, both 19/8s, could see a very formidable defence in the future, a bit like Bolt Thrower have now. But they also have some impressive players in attacking positions like Martyn Myles and Marian Poteras, 19/8 and 18/7 respectively but with every other player on at least the 16/4 path, this looks like it could be the greatest Spurs Kickers side to date. We caught up with Jossi1 who has been the club’s only ever manager after 31 long seasons to discuss the new team and how it compares to the old one.
XD: So, 31 seasons of the Dream League and you’ve been with your team for that entire time, what motivates you to keep playing the game?
Jossi1: X11 is my escape from reality. After the kids have gone to bed, it feels great to leave the real world for some minutes, to compete amongst my fellow football lovers.
XD: Your old sides have won a Dream League Cup and the Dream League title, but the next batch of players look like they could be your best side yet. The defence in particular look outstanding, which area of the team do you consider to be the most important?
Jossi1: To me the goal keeper and the attackers are the most important players. The reason is simple. They are the players that should do the scoring and keep the opponent from scoring. But the balance of the team is more important, I think. A lot of different SQ's and enough strong players to make the team more unpredictable.
I hope my GK and defence makes it very difficult to score against my team in the future.
XD: Your old side hit the top flight at a time when South Hooligans were dominating. Do you think your timing was unlucky and could the old side have won more than they did?
Yes, my timing was poor/unlucky. I came to the top when South Hooligans were almost unbeatable. I had to sell my oldest players, and buy strong mid-aged players to be competitive. My team kept the skill, and South Hooligans were weakened. Then I could have a go for the title. I succeeded with that, but my account had a big setback at the same time, off course.
My old guys weren’t good enough to fight for the XCL trophy, that was and is my next goal. I might have won the league one or two times more, but that would lead to less money for the rebuild of my squad. I felt selling my players at a good price, and buy young promising players, was my only way to have a shoot at the XCL trophy. I hope my decision was right.
XD: What have you found easier so far? Building a team from scratch with no previous assets or rebuilding a successful one in the hope of creating another successful side?
Jossi1: Building from scratch with no previous assets is much easier, because you do not know what’s best for you ;) But then again this will only bring you half the way.
With a lot of routine in Dream League and a lot of private leagues, I hopefully have learned how to do it right. The team I am building know has a much bigger chance of being successful.
XD: Thank you for the interview, your team certainly looks like one to watch
Thanks for interviewing me, and I hope you are right ;)

The Golden League, best known for its West Ham Boys/Murighol Fever team which won multiple titles and became the first non-Swedish team to reach the XCL final. Since then, the closest the Golden League has come to XCL glory has been a final on behalf of Nasty Fc, but is it time for the next big name to emerge? Will one of these teams become the new team to beat?

Totti Team:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=127003&Boost=0&dh=1
A former Division 3 side who struck gold by hiring star manager Legendof88 from Xpert International side Lokomotiv MacRobert, a team on its way to the top flight in that league. A lot has happened since then and they are now the most valuable team in the Golden League so we sat down with the man himself for a recap on the journey so far:
XD: You joined “Red Card Actors” in Season 24 of the Golden League while they were in Division 3 from Division 1a Xpert International side Lokomotiv MacRobert. Why did you decide to leave Lokomotiv?
L: Well actually I had been promoted to the top flight with Lokomotiv in my last season, so it was a very tough decision to leave them, the side was ageing and I had decided a couple seasons before that I wanted to start from scratch with a new side and Red Card Actors where a very a good platform to start. I think Lokomotiv got a couple of runners-up in the Xpert International after I left, so I do wonder if I could of won it, but with my current side looking as it does now I think I made the correct decision as nothing was guaranteed.
XD: The Totti team rebuild has progressed nicely and after several seasons of relegation you are on your way back up again and are back in the Division you started in. Do you think you can keep your current rate of promotion progress going or will Division 3 prove to be too much for this squad for now?
L: In terms of my projections for this side, they are a season ahead of what I expected, so division 3 may prove difficult baring that in mind, and we are probably a year off before we hit a good average age. However, we have competitive team, comparable with the division and it always depends on how your form goes and how other teams in the division perform to whether we can get promoted again. I do appreciate though, that we have risen quite quickly back through the divisions and with still a lowish average age, I would accept two seasons in this current division before the next promotion.
XD: Do you have a favourite player from your team?
L: Yes, Koldo Elustondo my 13 Skill 23 defender, many people comment on Stu Gilchrist the 22/12 midfielder who is a hard trainer, cool and with heading ability. However Koldo is my favourite! He also has aerial ability, as well as long range shooting ability and a leader. I have found in private leagues that I have been really successful with one the higher skilled members of the squad being a leader and making him captain has given that player an extra boost. I had this one player in the Wii League, David Palmer who possessed this quality and was decent skilled and with a highly skilled strong midfield around him, with more eye-catching sqs, he was not necessary a stand out player but he would pull the team through and would always post huge performance rating, especially against Jesus1983 who is my big friend and rival in that and many other leagues.
XD: Thank you and good luck for the future

Loveable Villains:

Our second pick for the Golden League was a tough call between this and Fists of FISO, this reporter's decision was swung by Cfc's own admission by mail that he doesn't think the current Fists of FISO will make it to the XCL but you never know. While the two most valuable teams in the Golden League are being managed by managers who have seen it all and done it all before, here we have a team that has just started their climb up the divisions with a very nice looking team. We caught up with Murodch11 to discuss his side’s progress so far and suffice to say, he isn't short on confidence.
XD: So, your team has just won its Division 6 play-off to promote to Division 5 and you are already one of the strongest teams in the division. Could a second successive promotion be on the cards this season?
Murdoch11: Definitely. It took a while to get out of Division 6 but I expect to get promoted this season and again the season after that. I will then assess if any additions are needed but am only interested in titles.
XD: Do your players have any nice hidden qualities?
Murdoch11: Five of my lads have that lovely HT icon which really helps with development. Well worth the extra money you have to pay. A sick bag out there too but will keep you guessing who that is.
XD: You have been with your squad since Season 15. Has all that time been spent preparing to build the current squad or is there another story behind it?
Murdoch11: Yes it took a long time to build an old squad to the value needed to sell on so I could build a super team. It's far from that at the minute but is developing well now. A couple of younger players will be sold in a season to make way for some better class footballers. They are good now but not good enough. Hopefully their icons will bring a good price. Bringing them all from a young age gives the great team work ethos and this team is only going higher.
XD: Thank you and good luck in the future.

A league most famous for FC Ballbreakers, one of the most successful teams in all the Xpert Leagues. FC Ballbreakers are currently in a rebuilding process under the guidance of Richardfenn but there are two other squads that stand out above Ballbreakers right now as ones to watch…

Black Lotus:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=162179&Boost=0&dh=1
This team is fast gaining momentum and is being brought to the attention of more and more people. Some have talked up Kuni as the game’s next big manager and they are gaining momentum, having just won promotion to Division 2. Top flight be warned, if you want a title, your time to get one might be short lived, Black Lotus are coming… we caught up with Kuni to discuss the journey to his ownership of the team to watch in the Master League…
XD: You took over Black Lotus back in Season 18. What attracted you to this team?
Kuni: Honestly, at the time I just wanted to jump to a decent side, if possible in the higher divisions. I believe I was in div 7 and my knowledge of the game was quite scarce. I kept failing at getting a team until well, I got this one:) FC All Stars was its name then.
XD: Your team progressed as far as Division 1 but couldn’t take that final step into the top flight. At what point did you decide that the squad you had wasn’t going to make it to the top flight?
Kuni: I got stuck in Div1 for 3 seasons in a row. I finally understood that if I wanted to progress and actually win it someday, I needed a stronger team, especially in the midfield. My team was lacking that at the moment so I decided to rebuild from scratch. Was either that or jump again, and I prefer to build my own teams, as you can see looking at my private leagues.
XD: Other managers have felt you are a dab hand in the transfer market. Do you look out for anything particular when buying players?
Well, I wouldn't say I’m particularly good in the transfer market. I'm lazy and usually don't have the patience or time to scour the TM properly. I sell when I need money or when a player I won't be counting on in the future gets the DJ, simple as that.
As for buying, yeah I only buy Hard Trainers. The younger the better as I feel I’m quite good at making players evolve.
XD: At just 22 years of age, your defender Alvito Pardal is looking like he will be one of the greatest defenders on the site. Do you see him being the cornerstone of your side’s defence in the future?
Kuni: I see him being one of them. Along with Bror Bjornsson as a 23/14 and Jaime Pina as a 25/15 I'm sure in a short few seasons my entire defence will be great. Not to mention the awesome goalkeeper behind them.
XD: Good luck in the rest of your journey back up the leagues.
Kuni: Thank you very much, much appreciated

CCCP:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=111799&Boost=0&dh=1
One of the most successful Master League teams around is back with an all new squad. Taking the meaning of all same aged squad to pedantic levels, there is bags of talent and depth within this team. However, they have just been relegated to Division 7 so it may be difficult to see them in the top flight again. But since there’s always the Cup they cannot be left out. We caught up with yuran to discuss his side’s rebuild
XD: So, we have seen many previously successful sides tear up their old teams and start again, with varying degrees of success. Your team is no exception to this and the rebuild started a long time ago. How do you think the rebuild has gone so far?
Yuran: It's been a long road, and one that I'm trying to figure out as we go. But except for a few bumps in the road it has pretty much gone according to plan and I'm happy with the progress we've made skill-wise. Result-wise, obviously, we have a long way to go and we need to start picking up points if we're ever going to challenge for any league titles again. But all in all I'm fairly happy and although I'm a highly competitive person, I've stuck with Xperteleven for almost nine years now because it is fun!
XD: Do you plan to add some older players to the squad to help the team become competitive on the way back up or are you sticking with your 22 year olds?
Yuran: I'm playing as I go, my plan was to make the current crop a balanced side without any real weaknesses but in order to manipulate the advantage of having your lineup a certain average age, I might have to blend in some new faces eventually. Right now finances are a little tight but we'll see down the line what we can afford. I'm writing boring press releases every week to get any income I can! :)
XD: Do you think the current CCCP squad will end up a better team that your old multi-title winning side?
Yuran: Hmmm, my first instinct says no but that is of course my goal. I actually think I didn't get enough out of that team tactically, and that it was actually good enough to win the XCL had it not been for some erratic management.
XD: Another Master League team, Black Lotus, are around a similar age range to your team. How much of a threat do you consider them to your team’s future?
Yuran: I have to admit I wasn't aware of Black Lotus until I saw this question but I had a look and they're looking like they're a real force in the making. I don't know how tactically sound their manager is, but my first impression is that they will set the benchmark for CCCP to follow. However, having faced giants like FC Nylyn, Ballbreakers and Realgalacticos in the past, we're not easily frightened and good competition makes for a better game.
XD: Thank you and good luck
Yuran: Cheers! Big thanks to my 14 fans :---)

Currently home to the number 1 manager in the world, MM United have become a constant fixture in the XCL knockout stages recently having reached the last two quarter finals. It has been a while since we’ve seen a consistently high performer in the Power League, one of the most dominant sides in the league’s early history, The Liverbird, won 7 Power League titles and apart from these two, the Power League has not really been featured much in the XCL. Could these squads change that?

The Fifth Column:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=444514&Boost=0&dh=1
Woodstock11 has been a regular contributor to the Xpert Daily and his team isn’t too bad either. Still only with an average age of 23 and yet on course to reach Division 2, the Netherlands could finally have the team in X11 that makes them as revered at the virtual sport as they are at the real sport. If Woodstock can keep his team on track, does promotion await?
One thing rather noticeable with this team when compared to others in this list is its conveyor belt nature. The Fifth Column have a very wide range of ages in their squad, from 29 year old Bernhard Sunder to 18 year olds Nicolas Sadler and Ramon Salgado, with no massive age gaps. We caught up with Woodstock to discuss his team:
XD: Your team is progressing quite nicely at the moment and you are only a few promotions off reaching the top.
W11: Yes indeed we had a wonderful season promoting to division 2 and claiming the championship. Ever since starting out with the Fifth Column we have chosen the road to slowly develop and built one of the best teams in the Power League. Within the parameters of being sufficient competitive at the level we are at, being sufficient competitive at the level we want to end up tomorrow and have long sustainability. It's a long but rewarding road playing the official leagues like this.
As we are getting closer to the top competition is toughening up, but so is our team. The age of the first line up is finally about right. Choosing for a conveyor system like ours slows you down at times being at the lower part age wise. This problem is fading.
We have the quality and we have a large squad giving us much room for manoeuvre. With the right cup runs to develop our youngsters my belief is in upcoming seasons we can climb to the premier of what is Power League football. And we hope to reach at least the quarter finals of the cup one day. Although much is dependent on the draw of the straws which frankly haven't been kind of us.
Over the season's Svenne Hagerth has had quite an impact and might well be the best defender in the league. Hopefully he can share the road to the top.
XD: The Power League has recently seen an increase in competitiveness in the XCL. How does the league in general feel about having the number 1 manager in the world in their league?
W11: The Power League isn’t the strongest of leagues in the game. Nevertheless it has a fair amount of very decent clubs and managers who can compete at every level. Also I think it has an over average amount of managers that seek not to shine one day but be a force for many moons. One of these managers now surfaced with MarioMeirelles and I for one think it’s amazing what he achieved with his club and he will be doing so for some time more as of the built of his squad. Both clubs Wasted Years and MM United performed very well I the champions league and I hope we ll see CF Gun Crime and MM make the Power League similar proud next season.
XD: Was there anything specifically that you looked for when signing your players?
W11: When I started with this team it lacked any strength and only consisted four players strong enough for long-term progress. Foremost I focussed buying my players as young as possible and on a 17/4 skill-path. In later stages I was able to make some more revenue on my developed players and now have a mix of players on a 17/4 16/4 skill path. I value especially my free-kick taker and I have a monster. I like them to be in defence as they won't be focussed upon (although this might not have an influence it just feels strange) and strikers have larger swings in their performances and are harder to develop as I always have four. For economic reasons mainly I like to have special qualities. With a conveyor belt system like mine and a high demand for training a sell of a player is inevitable every season. And these players maybe a little more expensive young, the revenues are far better in comparison of vanilla players. As is for players I tend to keel most qualities really are just a bonus. Especially hard trainer, but I value this more important for my private league teams. On general I just focus on my team getting more valuable and a tad stronger each season and for the five years now I am succeeding. Although the huge value drop of player values made it a lot harder as I could foresee many moons ago.
Cheers for the interview and I will see you all in the XCL anytime soon :)

Gandon City FC:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=385888&Boost=0&dh=1
Further down the league pyramid, down in Division 7, we have Gandon City, Ireland’s best hope in the near future on X11. Maldjd23 has spent a few seasons building his squad and the result is a group of players who are above the usual curve in general, but sadly they have missed out on promotion to the play-offs in the last game of the season. Nevertheless, while the window for success for this team might now be limited, there’s some real potential in this team and with Eemil Ponnio in goal, teams will find it difficult to score against them. Burhan Radeljic will be crucial in defence for them while they have the basis of a powerful midfield. Woodstock has said that most Power League managers look for sustained success, but will this team change all that?

The second youngest league on the site, only the Classic League is younger. Nevertheless, the Pro League has hosted some pretty great teams, not least of all S.L SabugAll who have been a model of constant success and the type of team graph everyone dreams of having but never quite has. Who knows, Pelikano could still be in the top flight in 10 seasons time, but there have been other great teams like Gundars, Blues of West London, Arctic Guerrillas, F.C Steaua Oradea and FC Delta TL (now Liverpool Warriors). And the league has been fast attracting top managers due to its mid-season selling window. Here are the two hottest prospects in the Pro League.

Capital Punishment:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=823063&Boost=0&dh=1
Currently plying their trade in Division 4 with a squad value of just under 300 million econ while also the 8th richest team in the Pro League. All completely built from scratch, an impressive achievement to say the least, but just how much has gone into the creation of this team?
XD: You created Capital Punishment in Division 8 of the Pro League back in Season 15 of the Pro League. Over 15 seasons later they are now the most valuable team in the Pro League, would you care to explain how you got to this point?
Glacier: Sure, but I must first point out that the team we created was first called Mountain Rangers. We then changed the name to Nihil Timendum Est in season 16, then to BlueSix at the start of season 21 and finally to Capital Punishment at the end of season 21. We now stick with the name Capital Punishment.
Well I had no assets when I started and we didn’t even get the added money you get now with a starting team ?. So we had little option but to bring in some questionable players to the team.
I was fortunate in the sense that; when I started, it was still a sellers’ market, so even though I was buying some questionable players, I always made sure they had desirable sqs and I found that I could sell them at a good profit.
When the market changed and became a buyers’ market I liquidated my cash and brought in players.
I was the 2nd richest team at the time, so with the switch I now had the most valuable team, well not straight away, after a few seasons of training up the players.
I would also point out that the team valuation is not realistic and there maybe teams who actually have greater realisable value than ours; certainly there are many many teams in the Pro League who are actually a lot better for sure.
XD: Capital Punishment currently ply their trade in Division 4, competing for promotion to Division 3. With much of the hard work now done in establishing the team, can you kick on from here? How long do you think it will take the team to reach the top, if at all?
Glacier: When I started in division 8 my dream was to take my team all the way to the top division. Although I’m not really sure I believed it was possible. So I am more than delighted to have made it to division 4 from 8 and never take a step backwards. But each time you take a step up, you come up against better managers and better teams and sometimes we find it difficult, especially as I am a bad tactician.
But I agree, on paper we have a decent base of a team to finally create a decent team, but this is still a long way off. We have to establish ourselves as a very good division 4 team first and then try and crack on from there
In terms of timescales, I’m not sure. I would ideally like to have my youngsters play in the top flight some day. But if we make it from division 4 either this season or next, we know that the climb up from 3 to the top will be a lot harder than what we have faced so far to date. So we will have to think how we can improve things from that moment.
One thing in my favour is that I’m extremely stubborn, so I will endeavour with my dream until the site closes or I stop playing the game ?
XD: Do you have any favourite players among your squad?
Glacier: Yes. He is Hein Hamming he is a 16 skill striker we brought in a couple of seasons ago. We rely heavily on him and he has really gelled well with the other players. He has already scored 8 goals in 9 games this season, without him we wouldn’t be able to mount a challenge.
XD: Thank you and good luck

The Pro League looks to be a good home for strong teams in the future, with its odd timing of transfer window attracting top managers who are looking to be able to sell mid season for good prices. Like Christmas Presents if you will but it is BonerVain who currently has the second most valuable squad in the Pro League at just under 250 million econ and with an average age of around 24. Unfortunately BonerVain was away in Zanzibar when we tried to catch up with him so we were unable to talk about his squad in this article, but suffice to say it is one to keep an eye on.

Arguably the strongest of the original international leagues, the Super League is the most successful of those leagues with 4 XCL titles, three of course coming from their behemoth team KBM Whitsunday. Other notable teams that the Super League has produced are Realgalacticos, Cinema Paradiso, Imperial Coban, Ibiza CF, Oltenia Craiova and Wesenbergh United. And by the looks of things, there is plenty more to come where that came from:

Zabriskie Point:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=275488&Boost=0&dh=1
It will come as no surprise to anyone who has been following the Official Leagues recently. Duffster’s current side are one of the hottest prospects in the Super League and along with Blu3red’s team are likely to be the two frontrunners in the Super League in the not too distant future. The squad has been trimmed from its original form slightly but has been given more depth by Duffster with the signings of Horacio Aires, Klas Tellqvist and Isak Livh. Ones to watch look like Ahti Telka and Panayotis Konstantopoulous who appear to be the main players in this side when they hit the top flight. Can Duffster win the XCL with them?

Sonata Arctica:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=742184&Boost=0&dh=1
After Oltenia Craiova and Zabrisike Point, next in line are this team, Division 3 side Sonata Arctica. Their team is a bit older than Zabriskie Point and being in Division 3 might give them a limited run at the top but there’s no denying they’re a good side, built entirely from the ground up, with Derek Agnew looking like one of the most promising free kick takers on the site. We had a quick chat with Oscardel on his side’s progress.
XD: You're one of the few people in this article to have built your squad entirely up from the ground. How hard is it for brand new teams to build a squad of this calibre?
Oscar: Of course it's harder to build a team entirely from the ground than overtaking an existing team and start building from there. When you get a new team you start with nothing but a poor squad and a bad economy. You have to build step by step where the strategy in the beginning is develop-sell-buy-develop and so on for many seasons. The keyword is patience.
XD: You are currently rated as the third most valuable squad in the Super League. Given that the two above you, Zabriskie Point and Oltenia Craiova, have two former XCL winning managers in charge, are you hopeful that this team can win anything in the near future?
Oscar: I'm hopeful! I realize that I still have a long way to go to make it possible, but with some minor changes and adding to the squad after this season I think I will have good shot in a few seasons.
XD: Would it mean a lot to have won something with a brand new team in one of the more competitive leagues on the site?
Oscar: It would mean everything. I got this team almost exactly four years ago and my goal was from the beginning to win something big. Now when I have my goal within reach I feel very proud to know that I've done this all by myself, right from the beginning.
XD: Good luck with your efforts
Oscar: Thanks!

The Ultimate League, the former home of rps78, often considered to be one of the greatest managers to have ever played the game. It has also seen plenty of notable teams like Rasaritul Delta, F.C Sloga, Cormorans F.C, Damocles, Grand Rapids FC and of course, Jesus and his Pandas who are the most successful team in the league’s history with four consecutive doubles with another cup added on for good measure. The Pandas are coming towards the end of their lifespan so who will step up to fill the void of the next big team in the UL, the team that everyone wants to beat? How about this lot?

COLOSSVS INVICTVS:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=321401&Boost=0&dh=1
The former Defensive FC has often been described as one of the best youth teams in the Official Leagues. And it’s easy to see why when you look at it. Patrick Wendell is the standout player with so much talent for a 26 year old. And they have a manager who has previously won before in Pbaiona, who won the Major League cup with Dourada Beach Club. Currently in Division 3, it is surely only a matter of time before they hit the top flight and by then they will be considered the favourites. We caught up with the Portugese manager to explain his journey so far.
XD: So you’d won the Major League Cup with Dourada Beach Club and competed in the XCL. Then a job becomes available at Defensive FC in the Ultimate League. Was it an easy decision to apply for the team?
Pbaiona: When you re in a team more than 10 seasons its never easy to leave her, it becomes part of you, it was a good experience and i think our project eventually result, i feel no regret when i leave the Dourada project but like i said before it was not a easy decision.
XD: Are you surprised to have got the job for such a valuable team given the number of applicants these teams usually have?
Pbaiona: To be honest i was very confident to get this job, in that time i was maybe in the top 10 in the world coaches table and after long time leading one time my chances were good.
XD: Explain to readers what changes you have made to the squad since taking over.
Pbaiona: Not many or none yet, first of all i m trying to get money in sales of young forward talents , one of the big problems of this team was, and still is, that there's no free kick taking player, one big mistake when you build a team, so when i get enough money i'll buy a top free kick player.
XD: Can COLOSSVS INVITCVS become the next major force in the Ultimate League?
Pbaiona: We are working on it, but we know than we still have a long way .....
XD: Thank you and good luck

Shark Utd:
http://www.xperteleven.com/players.aspx?TeamID=101462&Boost=0&dh=1
One for the history books, Shark Utd were one of the earliest champions in the league’s history and now, they could also become the future of the league. As the third most valuable squad in the Ultimate League, with a young midfield, a young-ish defence and an outstanding young talent in Andy Halliday, could a second league title be on the cards for Shark Utd? Maybe even a second cup?
XD: So, some readers may remember you from our random interviews last year. With the demise of Under Construction it is now your team that are one of the most valuable teams in the league. Does having such a valuable team create great expectations?
HVR: Yes, it does have its expectations, but more so with myself. My team has huge potential and when the players mature in a few seasons time should be playing in the top league. I look at the league at the start of the season and decide then whether or not I should be getting promotion that season. Last season I thought I would perform better but the players were not ready. I created an expectation at the start of the season and did not meet that expectation. By looking back at it, the team were not ready. Now, with players one season older and one skill better I should start to move through the leagues and with the start I have had the expectation is back again.
However, the value of a team is all relative really. Some teams are valuable, but only because they have loads of special qualities or high skilled youngsters. Other teams are ridiculously strong, but low in value as they are a bunch of oldies. You also have to look at the MANager behind the team. People may think my team will do well because of the high value, but if my tactical skills are nonexistent, those expectations will not be met.
XD: Presuming your team can promote every season from now, how long do you think your team would have at the top?
HVR: By the time I got to the top division, the key players will be 28/29. I think these players will be high skilled and young enough to last at least three seasons without tinkering much with the team. By the time they get in their early thirties, I should have players like Nascimento and Hollyfield coming through to replace them, then McKeever and Hoogerland after that. My aim was to always run a conveyor belt team. Cesaro HyperForce managed to stay in the top division for 14 seasons which is a remarkable achievement. I won’t last that long, and if I get half that I will be delighted. You never know Aperson, you may replace me on your rise to the top!
XD: Realistically, how long do you think it will actually take to get to the top?
HVR: Hopefully I should get promotion this season into Division 3. Realistically I would give myself a couple of seasons in either Division 2 or three, but with back to back promotions following that. This would give 5 seasons. This does depend on luck and who I am drawn with. There are still some very good teams with excellent managers in the way yet, so if I can avoid them 5 seasons is doable. 6 would be acceptable but anymore than that would be a disaster. I don’t think I will have the time or the patience to be playing in another two real life years, hovering around Division 1, I would have to quit the game by then.
XD: Good luck, hopefully you can avoid Shark Utd’s previous feat of having won the title and then getting relegated the season afterwards.
HVR: One of the reasons I took on the Shark Utd job was to rebuild them and replicate their past glories. If I could win one title and have one go in the Xpert Champions league then that would be my aim achieved. It wouldn’t bother me if I then got relegated, but would love to stay in the top division for as long as possible.
Well, that is just a glimpse into the future of Xpert Eleven. Come back for Part 2 when we will look at the most promising teams in the original Swedish leagues...
In the mean time, feel free to comment on which of these teams you think looks the best and whether any teams from these leagues you think we may have left out.
