Tense, nervous and top
"Never!" Matchstick Men manager Tony Brazil's shrill cry cuts through the jeers of the home fans and the cheers from the away end of the ground. Matchstick's are entertaining Perak Bar who have put the ball in the net on 7 minutes; but the 'goal' is disputed.
"Top reffing Dick," Brazil celebrates as Perak's 'goal' is disallowed. Ten minutes later Matchsticks have the ball in the Perak net. Brazil's celebrations explode, his sandwiches are thrown into the air and lost for good. Then the Matchstick goal is also disallowed.
"Rubbish reffing you Dick," Brazil deflates, retreats to the dug out and wonders where his sandwiches are. It remains 0-0 to the break.
Straight from kick off in the second half, Matchstick's take the lead and this time the goal stands. Brazil sneers, "that Dick wasn't ready with his disallowing head on."
Despite Brazil's bravado it is a tense, nervous second half but the match ends 1-0 and so Matchstick Men stay top for another round.
