Cloggies
Division 1b, Classic League
Manager: Cloggie
Review & Preview
The start of a brand new season is a perfect moment to evaluate and look forward.

The past Cloggies season was one of our best ever. We started off rather badly with some red crosses and an unlucky early exit from the Cup, but in a way this was a blessing in diguise. It meant that we were playing on higher form that our opposition for quite some weeks, which I'm sure helped us overcome stronger opposition. It did obviously mean that we had to give quite a bit of match time to our juniors in the League but fortunatley this didn't harm us.

As a coach I had my best season yet as well, winning 6 manager of the round titles and simply having the feeling that I got quite a few of my results through succesful guessing of the other guy's tactics. We secured a healthy lead at the top of the table, allowing us to even field massive numbers of juniors in final few rounds.

All these things put together gave us a monumental update with + 16.2 skillbars in total, which is 2 whole bars better than our highest on record. A great combination of results and development then, as we climb back into the top flight with a very healthy looking team.

Let's have a look at what's in store for us. The lineup in the Classic League looks slightly weaker than it did in season 27 when we got relegated. Some of the teams we will be facing are fighting the losing battle against old age and might struggle with form and performance as a result of this. Due to our enduring long term focus I doubt we will be able to compete for the title. There are still some teams who are peaking in the coming 1 or 2 seasons and we have to predict that they will stay ahead of us.

My own prediction is that the title race will go between Lanark and Wigan, with the Cloggies ending up quite safely in 3rd or 4th place. Our main goal for the season is to finish 2 points ahead of the defending champs, as they just sneaked past us in the all time standings table. We remain 57 points behind the Hawkes, so we can not expect to reach our ambition of becoming the top alltime team in this or even the the next season.

All the more motivation to stay true to our longstanding policy of choosing long term development over short term glory!
