Gudmundsson Re-Injured in 5-0 Victory
In an almost eerily identical situation as his injury last Friday, forward Kenneth Gudmundsson re-injured himself in the 5-0 victory over F.C. UTA Arad. Gudmundsson was again heavily assaulting the opponent net with a goal and an assist already to his name, when in the 43rd minute he was forced to limp off the field and exit the match early. Last match, the injury occurred in the 46th minute of play and Gudmundsson had already scored in that instance as well.

"It's definitely been feeling like the universe is against me, or I'm stuck in some kind of weird red cross injury loop or something," Gudmundsson laughed with a grimace. "We'll see if when I return I manage to make it even past 40 minutes," he laughed again.

"I feel really badly for him," said teammate Kimi Nuutikka. "I know what it's like to have your match cut short, and it's not fun at all. In a way it worked out ok, though. He's suspended for his next match anyways."

Yet despite the bout of bad luck for Gudmundsson, Bayern played an excellent match. Danut Armeanu opened the scoring for Bayern in the 7th minute and for the next 6 minutes the Bavarians seemed unstoppable. In that respect, Gudmundsson had a great match, at least as long as he played. He was directly responsible for the first two goals, assisting Armeanu on the first and scoring the second off a shot from the penalty area.

"Just like last time, the match started really well, and I was feeling good," said Gudmundsson. "I've been finding the back of the net more consistently lately, but it seems I'm paying the price for it, too."

After contributing to the Gudmundsson goal, Abel Silverhjelm would take over from there, scoring a beautiful header in the 13th minute. But for the time being, the goals would be put on hold and from there followed a yellow card and a string of injuries. In the 18th minute Gudmundsson saw yellow after tangling with formerly Patos Loucos forward, Graham Wheels. Wheels would leave the pitch with a minor injury, being replaced by Mordechai Anielewicz. A minor injury to Bayern defender Nicolas Huguenin would come 19 minutes later, while Gudmundsson would limp off only 6 minutes after Huguenin's mishap, the first half ending at 3-0 in favour of Bayern.

In the second half it would be Hrapn Gislason, subbed on in place of Gudmundsson, who would get the ball momentarily rolling again. At the 46 minute mark, Gislason planted a long range shot past keeper Rufus Tyack, increasing Bayern's lead to 4. To finish things off, Silverhjelm, once more directly involved in the final goal, managed to get some power on the ball after Armeanu's corner to make it 5-0.

"Though the circumstances were unfortunate, it was great to see Gislason get in on the scoring," said the Bayern manager. "Overall, the match was a good opportunity to see some young talents in action. Aside from Gislason, we also had Andrias Bogvik and Kimi Nuutikka playing the full 90 minutes. Overall, I got a good look at our future today, and that was certainly a positive to be taken away from this win. On a different note, this is the first time we've played this club after they were rebranded. We've now played them 6 times since Season 34, and in the last two seasons Patos Loucos have been among our primary rivals. It's always sad to see a formerly active manager give up his club, and we hope they won't be abandoned from here on out."

Next week, Bayern face FC Plaristocrates as guests. A match that will surely be tough, but which the Bavarians hope to escape from with at least a point.
