What a start! |
It was quite a daunting draw for the first half of the new season. Away against the Fatboy Bombs, who solidly beat us at their home ground last season. We did get some hope from our clearly higher form, but just a couple of points of form would likely not be enough to make up for the difference.
We managed an ever so slight edge in the tactics, but also nothing groundbreaking, so I settled down to watch the game in anticipation of a very tight fight. Shockingly, the Bombs simply failed to turn up today. We completely dominated the game for the entire 90 minutes, even after subbing on some youngsters during the second half. It took a while for us to actually take the lead due to an offday for Al Savage who managed to convert none of the three chances he got in the first half.
Luckily, good old Boris took charge right at the start of the second half and the win was never in danger after that.
Any away win in the Leegue is a great result for the Cloggies, given our huge home advantage, but this one is extra special. A great start to the season for us. Now onwards to the second leg in the Cup, where once again we have only injuries to lose.
