Eagles score huge upset to start season
Trinity FC earned a massive three points yesterday, leaving the Minangkabau Arena Sports with all three points. The hosts, Paja Lasek, were overwhelming favourites going into this match, but found themselves conceding possession and unable to create chances against a disciplined Trinity side.

The hosts went into the match looking to bruise their opponents, but paid the price in the 24th minute when defender Migueis picked up a knock, although the booking went to Hoult of Trinity. The manager chose to bring on veteran forward Alegria at the back. The first warning side for Paja Lasek came in the 29th minute when Paganini fired wide for the visitors from a tight angle. Revie and Tanár of Paja Lasek were booked for brutal and dangerous play before the interval.

Potemy made a tactical switch at halftime as Hornig made way for Alferes in midfield for the Eagles. Morris then seemed to pick up a knock shortly afterwards, but the midfielder continued on until the end of the match for Trinity. Sistek sent a second warning to Paja Lasek in the 59th minute as the defender's powerful freekick rattled the crossbar. Paganini then netted in the 66th minute to give the visitors the lead, latching on to Sharples' through ball and chipping the ball over Paja Lasek goalkeeper Ebbers, but had his goal ruled out. Replays showed that Paganini was just onside, if anything. The hosts then took a lead they did not deserve, Tanár beating Haspolatli from the set piece in the 67th minute.

However, justice would be delivered. Potemy made another tactical switch with Simurka replacing Goldstein in defence. The Eagles drew level in the 81st minute as Xing Chi Ta coolly struck the ball past Ebbers from the spot. Potemy then played his final card as Kallis replaced Paganini up front. The switch paid off as the forward, fresh on the pitch, pulled Paja Lasek's aerial specialists, Kortland and Revie, away in the 94th minute. His decoy run allowed Melamed to meet Alferes' corner, the 17-year-old beating Ebbers with his lobbed header right at the death.

"We knew it would be tough to come here and get a result," said Potemy after the match. "Paja Lasek are a very physical side and they have talented players. We knew their physicality could prove to be a weakness, though, and I think that proved to be the case with the early injury. Their age may also have gone against them as it was the young players, the raw talent like Ram Melamed, that made the difference."

"We've identified Paja Lasek and Ogrimmar Revellers as the most dangerous sides in the division, and it's a baptism of fire, starting the season by playing both these sides away. We've already won one of the four matches against these two sides, though, and it felt amazing to win in that fashion, with a goal deep in injury time. We know we'll definitely be challenging for promotion come the end of the season," added the manager.
