Ruthless Perak run riot against unfortunate Chileans
A merciless second half onslaught tonight saw Perak Bär hit seven goals in a single game for the first time in the club's history, clobbering Chilean side BK Knoppen 2-7 in front of their own public in the first leg of their Xpert League Cup second round clash, having been level at 2-2 with just half an hour to play.
The game ultimately turned on one moment of madness from ageing BK Knoppen midfielder Olof Celsius, who was shown a straight red card in the 49th minute for biting the admittedly annoying Shea Wiberna in full view of the referee. The 37-year-old's dismissal destabilised his side to such an extent that they now look set to exit the competition barring a miracle in next Friday's return leg, despite having impressed for large spells tonight.
For his part, Perak boss Davpleat has warned his squad not to get carried away with the freak result, although he did lavish praise on his clinical attackers for finishing all five of the chances created in the final half an hour. He also paid special tribute to debutant teenage striker Ismael Hii, who scored two excellent goals in his first 45 minutes for the club before controversially making way for the more experienced Russell Hatharway at the break in a pre-planned substitution.
A rare product of the club's own youth academy, Hii has already established himself as a cult hero among the Ursa Minor, now making it difficult for his manager to leave him out of the next game given his strike rate of a goal every 22.5 minutes.
