Ever since the early cave men bashed two flint stones together and created orange magic man has loved a spark.
That first time your eyes meet with an attractive member of the opposite sex and you realise you're not getting a slap, your heart pounding and pulse racing as little butterflies take over the body, mind and even other areas.
The reassuring sound of the boiler exploding into life after returning from a winter's stroll, safe in the knowledge that you will soon be sitting down enoying a Cadburys options* hot chocolate as the radiators emit heat filling your home with a warm love.
*Other brands are available but in these early months of new year's resolutions the low calorie count is second to none.
The sound of your vehicle engine as you twist the key unleashing all that horse power beneath you, leaving you full of adrenaline as you wait for the red lights to hit green and you power away pushing the land speed record close as you pop to Tesco* for some milk - normally after the lady of the house has dragged you away from xpert.
*A recent survey says Tesco is the most popular supermarket and depsite being a Sainsburys man it made sense to use everyone's favourite.
And away from all those magical sparks in the dull, real world; nothing matches the spark that is given when your side finally goes out and does on the pitch just what you have been waiting for since the opening day and lifts all the clouds of doubt like a strong burning sun.
Now a cup win against a side who have not been managed in a month isn't the best, but we still hit 6 past a side who matched us for skill and edged us for age and experience.
The more I think about it, that initial spark with a girl may actually beat this but for now that win is all I need.
Whether we can carry this on, or like most of those intial sparks the flame sadly dies and you return to the loneliness or cold where you set out from. It's early days in the season and many more perfomances like that are needed if we are to live up to pre season dreams.
But like all dreams, if you believe them then they are real; and unless its a villianous dream catcher from a Disney film no one can take them away from you. Unless it's the woman spark again and a hunk resembling an aftershave advert guy appears on the scene and that dream is gone into the night.
My dream now is to progress further in the cup and win every league game left this season, well I have more chance of that than the dreams I've been having about Megan Fox ever since re-watching Transformers 2 the other night.
