Easy to play, hard to master... |
With an unassailable five point lead atop Div 5:26 of the Power League, Bladed Samurai XI face into their final game knowing they are champions electwhatever. In doing so BS XI will make it three divisions on the spin. Last season they made a clean sweep with regard to prize monies handed out; this time however, although the monetary rewards won't be as great the more important aspect, promotion into D4, has been readily achieved.
It's worth noting manager Drogs is no stranger when it comes to steering teams through the ranks, having already steered Super Drogs of the Super League through six divisional titles in a row. Drogs then bettered that when steering Super Drogs of the Hattrick League through an unprecedented seven, yes SEVEN divisional titles in a row. That, my friends, is something for the history books!
Impressive stuff, but on a different level even that may be eclipsed by what is now shaping up to be the club's best ever CR. Presently, seven youngsters sit on 18DV while all others, bar one, sit on 17DV. Btw, the oldies are no slouches either with three of the four on 14DV and the other on 13DV, so they can also look forward to a positive CR.
Following an unexpected Double Jump last season, goalkeeper Fernao Taibo unfortunately still lags a little. Having jumped from 22/11 to 23/13, the player systematically suffered an ill fated red cross injury early on and has since found the going tough with a near constant bashing by the Gods of X11 who haven't let up inflicting form drops on a weekly basis.
In response Taibo has undergone a pocket draining fifteen training sessions that cost the club a whopping 1.9M econ. Having rested on 16DV for the last couple weeks, can he make it to 17DV and get over the line? Well, you know, I very much doubt it! Hopefully Fenn's XII Assistant got that wrong too!
In the background, manager Drogs meticulously schemes away on yet another intricate plan for next season and beyond. It's thought, by those in the know, he will likely press on with the core of his young crop in order to establish a solid base to negotiate those undoubtedly tricky seasons ahead: Drogs once wrote, ''from experience, D4 and D3 can at times be a tougher nut than D2 or D1''.
On a cautionary note, BS XI may take another six or even seven seasons to reach their goal. Going forward, with fewer managers involved in the game it's difficult to foresee with accuracy the state the transfer market will be in at that time. For sure, with diminished numbers, those much sought after high skilled youngsters will be fewer in number and therefore sold at a higher premium. A quandary exists!
With that in mind, as his team climbs the ladder of success adequate funding must be in place to ensure a seamless passage. Along that journey manager Drogs will prioritize the need to bring in a second wave of talented youngsters to ensure longevity once there.
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail!
''Easy to play, hard to master.'' Xpert 11 sure as hell got their slogan right!
Go, Bladed Samurai XI.
